Embiid Scores 52 To Lead Sixers Past Celtics
The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the visiting Boston Celtics, 103-101, at Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday evening.

Joel Embiid put up a monstrous effort with 52 points on 20-of-25 shooting to lead the 76ers to the home win. The Sixers jumped out to a quick, 10-2, start and held on to a six-point lead after one quarter. The score stayed tight through the second, but the hosts maintained a seven-point advantage at the break. Neither side could get an offensive rhythm going in the third, but the Celtics managed to trim it to a five-point game heading into the final quarter. The visitors kept the pressure on in the fourth and grabbed a brief lead, but the 76ers stepped up in the clutch and closed out the home win.

Embiid added 13 rebounds, six assists and two blocks to his game-high, 52 points in 39 minutes of action. James Harden followed up with 20 points, five rebounds, 10 assists, two blocks and a steal, while Tobias Harris added five points, six rebounds and two assists. The 76ers shot 50 percent from the field, including 11-of-29 from long range.

Meanwhile, Derrick White led the Celtics with 26 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two blocks, in 40 minutes. Jayson Tatum followed up with 19 points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals, while Malcolm Brogdon tallied 18 points, four rebounds and three assists. The Celtics shot 41.8 percent from the field, including 15-of-45 from deep.

The Celtics (54-25) will look to bounce back as they play host to the Raptors on Wednesday. The 76ers (52-27) play host to the Heat on Thursday.
