2025 Fantasy Outlook
Mitchell provided first-round fantasy value in 2023-24, but he saw nearly four fewer minutes per game last season, resulting in a sizeable dip in production. The reduced workload was partially due to the health of Darius Garland, general backcourt depth, and a ton of blowout wins amidst the Cavaliers' 64-18 campaign. The loss of Ty Jerome to the Grizzlies, being replaced by Lonzo Ball, hurts the backcourt depth somewhat - but the rest of the equation projects to be the same, as the East is even weaker this season than it was last season. However, Mitchell ultimately remains one of the best shooting guards in the NBA and is coming off a sixth consecutive All-Star nod. Across his 31.4 minutes per game, he averaged 24.0 points and 3.3 threes on 44/37/82 shooting, 5.0 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals. Regardless of format, Mitchell probably shouldn't slip past the third round. His upside might not be what it was last year, or even during his time in Utah, but his floor is extremely reliable. Scores game-high 35 points
Mitchell totaled 35 points (8-25 FG, 4-13 3Pt, 15-21 FT), nine rebounds, one assist, one block and four steals across 38 minutes during Tuesday's 114-105 loss to Indiana in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
ANALYSIS
Mitchell aggravated a left ankle injury in Game 4 but shook off a questionable tag to suit up Tuesday. He tweaked the ankle again in the third quarter of Game 5 but returned a few minutes later and led a comeback that fell short. Mitchell finished with a game-high 35 points in Cleveland's final outing of the season, and despite scoring at least 30 points in four of the five second-round contests, the superstar guard was unable to get the Cavaliers past the Pacers. After a highly successful regular season ended with the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, Cleveland's postseason will warrant a lot of discussion, both internally and externally.

After two seasons with Cleveland and what appeared to be some hints he was open to leaving, Mitchell agreed to a three-year, $150.3 million extension over the summer. Injuries limited him to 55 appearances last year, but the guard still made his fifth straight All-Star game and set per-game career highs in assists (6.1), rebounds (5.1), steals (1.8) and blocks (0.5). That was in addition to his efficient 26.6 points and 3.3 threes in 35.3 minutes. Mitchell is quietly one of the best shooting guards in the league and is currently in his prime, entering his age-28 season. Cleveland is bringing back the same core as last year, so nothing about Mitchell's role is expected to change. In per-game, eight-category value, Mitchell surprisingly finished seventh last season after finishing 13th in 2022-23 and 18th in 2021-22. He hasn't played 70 games since 2018-19, so there are some mild injury concerns, but managers should ultimately feel comfortable selecting Mitchell in the second round of many drafts.
