Babar Azam (Sydney Sixers)
First in the list is Pakistan's star batter Babar Azam. The right-hander is one of the most high-profile foreign players to have signed up for the BBL 2025-26 season. Babar has had impressive numbers in his T20 career, where he recently became the highest scorer in the history of T20 internationals. However, Babar's form has been far from impressive in the 20-over format recently. In 2025, he is averaging 31.93 in T20 cricket, the lowest he has averaged since 2017, with a strike rate of 123.77. Those numbers will not make the Sydney Sixers fans excited about seeing Babar representing their side. However, with his own place at stake for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup which is to be played in February – March next year, Babar will be hoping to put a much better show and prove his critics wrong.
David Warner (Sydney Thunder)
Second on the list is former Australian opener David Warner. The left-hander, who retired from international cricket last year, has had a phenomenal BBL 2024 season where he finished the competition as the second-highest run-getter with 405 runs to his name at an average of 45 and with a strike rate of 141.60, which included three half-centuries as well. The Sydney Thunder franchise will be hoping to see Warner produce a similar performance in the upcoming BBL season as well.
Hassan Khan (Melbourne Renegades)
Third in the list features American all-rounder Hassan Khan. The 27-year-old, who was born in Karachi, Pakistan and represented the Men-in-Green at the U-19 level, is an interesting pick. Hassan has been a star performer in American domestic cricket for a while, but has yet to represent Team USA at the international level. In the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 season, Hassan claimed 12 wickets in 10 innings and scored 225 valuable runs with a strike rate of more than 187. On top of that, he is an exceptional fielder as well. Those numbers are far too good to ignore, and it is because of this that he has once again been selected in the BBL by the Renegades. He was signed by the Renegades last year as well, but only featured in one match. The Renegades will be hoping that Hassan will be able to live up to the hype and produce similar performances as he did earlier this year at the MLC.
Chris Green (Sydney Thunder)
Fourth in the list features Sydney Thunder all-rounder Chris Green. The 32-year-old is more than useful, with both bat and ball in the 20-over format. In a career spanning more than a decade, Green has featured in 265 T20 matches, taking 243 wickets at an exceptional economy rate of just over seven and scoring nearly 2,000 runs at a strike rate of 137.34. Green's ability to bowl in the last phase of the innings makes him an ideal candidate for a T20 setup. In last year's BBL, Green had a very good time with the ball in hand, where he claimed 12 wickets with an economy rate of 7.34, which was amongst the best in the competition. The Thunder will hope Green continues to deliver similar performances in the near future as well.
Adam Zampa (Melbourne Renegades)
Last on the list features Australia's Adam Zampa. The right-arm leggie is the most successful spinner in the history of the competition, with 132 wickets to his name, with an outstanding economy rate of 7.29. Last year, Zampa once again impressed with the ball in hand, where he claimed 12 wickets with an economy rate of 7.22. The renegades will be hoping for a similar kind of performance from their star performer this time around as well.
