2025 Fantasy Outlook
After some heroics in the 2024 playoffs, Silovs wasn't able to replicate that success to begin the 2024-25 regular season. He started the year 1-4-1 and lost his spot on the NHL roster in December, coming up again only as an injury replacement. Silovs still showed some skill in the AHL, going 14-5-1 with a 2.41 GAA and a .908 save percentage over 21 appearances, but his 3.65 GAA and .861 save percentage over 10 NHL games is a concern. Realistically, Silovs won't be seeing much NHL time when both Thatcher Demko and Kevin Lankinen are healthy, but Demko's long injury history could afford Silovs more chances than the average organizational No. 3 goalie would get. Starting Opening Night
Silovs will be between the pipes on the road against the Rangers on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Silovs outperformed Tristan Jarry during the preseason, going 2-1-0 with a .904 save percentage and a 2.55 GAA, and will get the surprise nod for the Penguins' season opener. The duo figures to continue battling for the No. 1 job throughout the year, and could even face a challenge from youngster Sergei Murashov, who is currently in the minors. Given the uncertainty in the Penguins' net, Silovs is a risky fantasy play early in the season.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Silovs was pressed into playoff duty last season when both Thatcher Demko and Casey DeSmith went down with injuries. After playing just four regular-season games, Silovs went 5-5 with a 2.91 GAA, .898 save percentage and one shutout in 10 playoff games. DeSmith is now in Dallas, so the No. 2 spot is Silov's to start 2024-25. The Orcas need to figure out how to manage Thatcher Demko's workload more effectively, and that means Silovs could see close to 30 starts. Don't be turned off by the occasional erratic game - he's just 23. His game is on the rise.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Poised to start opener
Silovs will likely be between the pipes at home versus Calgary on Wednesday, Jeff Paterson of CanucksArmy.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Silovs should have the inside track to see the majority of the starts in the early part of the season after going 8-5-1 in 14 regular-season and postseason contests for Vancouver last year. Along the way, the young netminder posted a 2.78 GAA and one shutout. Still, veteran Kevin Lankinen will likely also get plenty of opportunities as the team awaits the return of Thatcher Demko from a knee injury.
