Which Non-P5 Teams Gained The Most Ground?
This week's non-Power Four biggest mover has really anchored over its competition this season.
The Navy Midshipmen gained 1.059% more social media followers week-over-week, thanks to the American program being 6-0 this year, with a 32-31 come-from-behind conquest of Temple being the team's latest victory.
This year, Navy's six wins have come by a combined 90 points, though 45 of those came against FCS program VMI in Week 1, with Brian Newberry's bunch living by the seat of their pants this fall, winning over fans right and left for their troubles.
Outside of Annapolis, this week's biggest movers online were the North Texas Mean Green (+0.982%), Missouri State (+0.788%), Air Force (+0.756%) and New Mexico (+0.729%), while UNLV (+0.686%) and Old Dominion (+0.612%) were next in line.
The North Texas Mean Green saw their dream start end with a nightmare in Denton on Friday.
USF handed UNT a 63-36 shellacking as the Bulls stayed unbeaten in the American Conference. The Bulls moved up from No. 24 to No. 19 in the Associated Press poll as a result.
Missouri State, in its first season as an FBS program, got to .500 at 3-3 with a 22-20 victory over Middle Tennessee State (1-5) on Wednesday, its first victory as a Conference USA member. Air Force lost a 51-48 overtime thriller in Las Vegas to UNLV. UNM traveled to Boise and got pounded on the "Smurf Turf" by the Boise State Broncos, 41-25.
On the flip side, the UNLV Rebels emerged from that shootout win inside Allegiant Stadium with their sixth straight victory to open the Dan Mullen era.
ODU's strong start hit a speed bump in Huntington, West Virginia, as the Monarchs (4-2) lost 48-24 at Marshall (3-3).
Rounding out this week's movers and shakers in the group outside the Power Four were San Diego State (+0.608%), Buffalo (+.579%), Akron (+0.544%), Troy (+0.544%), Oregon State and UTSA (+0.526% each), Temple (+0.489%) and Georgia State (+0.456%), putting a bow on the week for measuring online interest.

Q&A
Q: Which college football team dominated social media growth this week?
A: The Navy Midshipmen dominated this week, jumping 8 spots to No. 1 with a 1.059% social growth — the highest of all programs.
Q: Were there any surprising teams in the Top 5?
A: Yes — the Top 5 featured big surprises: Air Force soared 17 spots to No. 4, Missouri State climbed 10 spots to No. 3, and Navy rose 8 spots to No. 1, while North Texas held steady at No. 2 and New Mexico slipped 4 spots but still landed at No. 5.
Q: What does this ranking reveal about the connection between the field and social media?
A: This week's data highlights that college football social media trends don't always mirror on-field performance. The takeaway: Winning games helps, but strategic engagement and passionate fan bases are just as powerful for driving digital visibility.
