2025 Fantasy Outlook
Sorokin made small improvements in 2024-25 compared to his career-worst 2023-24 campaign. In 61 appearances last season, the netminder had a 30-24-6 record with a 2.71 GAA and a .907 save percentage. The Islanders rarely gave him much scoring support to work with, but it's encouraging to see him partially get back to the level he established in his first three campaigns. He was also largely healthy in 2024-25, which helps his outlook moving forward. He'll be a reliable fantasy option due to his workload, though he won't weigh down any fantasy team's stats as long as the Islanders are at least around the playoff bubble. Read Past Outlooks
Fifth straight win
Sorokin made 32 saves in a 3-2 shootout win over the Lightning on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
The Islanders got off to a good start and went up 2-0 by the mid-point of the opening period. Sorokin made several key saves while allowing just two goals when his team buckled a bit in front of him. He has made 162 saves (.942 save percentage) during his active five-game winning streak, and he's the backbone of the team's second-place spot in the Metropolitan Division.

2020
Sorokin's brilliant 2022-23 put him in the top tier of elite NHL netminders, but his abysmal 2023-24 ultimately put him on the bench behind his backup, Semyon Varlamov. Sorokin's GAA shot up from 2.34 to 3.01, and his save percentage dropped from .924 to .909. He played deeper in his net, leaving him less time to react, and his tracking and rebound control wasn't sharp. So, which Sorokin will show up in 2024-25? Likely one in between. The Isles really haven't addressed their lack of scoring, other than to add Anthony Duclair, but their blue line will be healthier. Sorokin is still elite, and we all need to remember that even .909 is above league average. Draft for upside when he drops because of last season.

In starter's crease
Sorokin was working in the starter's crease ahead of Tuesday's home clash with Vegas, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports, indicating he'll be in goal.
ANALYSIS
Sorokin is on a three-game winning streak during which he posted a 1.33 GAA, .960 save percentage and one shutout. The veteran netminder comes into Tuesday's clash with some extra time off following the Isles' back-to-back, which saw David Rittich get the nod Sunday. With only one more back-to-back ahead of the Christmas break, Sorokin could see a heavy dose of work over the next two weeks.
