Heat Survive, Take Down Hornets
The Miami Heat defeated the Charlotte Hornets, 116-114, at Spectrum Center on Monday.

The Heat (13-10) and the Hornets (7-14) played a tight contest that went down to the wire. Despite Miami dominating most of the contest, a furious comeback from Charlotte almost allowed them to complete a fourth-quarter comeback. Miami looked good in the early stages and raced to a 29-24 lead in the first quarter. The Heat kept the momentum after the initial 12 minutes and bolstered their lead to nine points following a 30-26 second quarter. The Heat remained in control in the second half and outscored Charlotte by a 30-27 score in the third quarter, making it a 12-point game with 12 minutes left. The Heat were expected to cruise the rest of the game, but the Hornets responded with a 37-27 score in the fourth quarter. The Heat had chances to ice the game, but they kept giving life to the Hornets repeatedly. In the end, though, the Heat completed the win after Terry Rozier missed the game-winning three from halfcourt. The Heat moved to 8-6 on the road, while the Hornets fell to 4-8 at home.

Duncan Robinson led the way for the Heat with 24 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals. Jimmy Butler finished with 23 points, eight assists, four rebounds, a steal and a block. Cody Martin recorded 20 points, nine boards and five assists. Kevin Love thrived off the bench and posted 19 points with six rebounds. Jaime Jaquez Jr. notched 18 points before fouling out. Miami shot 48.1 percent from the field.

Terry Rozier carried the Hornets with 34 points, 13 assists and two rebounds. Miles Bridges had 18 points and four rebounds. Gordon Hayward delivered 17 points, seven assists and six rebounds. Brandon Miller recorded 16 points, four rebounds and two assists. P.J. Washington notched 15 points and eight rebounds. Charlotte shot 47.8 percent from the field.
