NBA Pick'Em Today (Thursday, Jan. 22)
Charlotte Hornets vs. Orlando Magic: Desmond Bane under 31.5 points + rebounds + assists -- PrizePicks, 2 PM CT
Bane is certainly capable of making a sustained impact on offense for the Magic, but his numbers in recent games haven't been very good. He's hit this 31.5 P+R+A line in only three of his last 12 contests, a stretch in which he's averaging only 18.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game while shooting only 24.1 percent from three-point range. The Hornets have been playing better and better in recent weeks, and if Bane is unable to find his shooting form, he could be destined for another game in which he doesn't hit this line -- or doesn't even come close to it. Bane has also failed to score more than 15 points in four of his last six contests, averaging 16.3 points and shooting just 42.9 percent from the floor in that span.
Chicago Bulls vs. Minnesota Timberwolves: Coby White over 24.5 points + rebounds + assists -- Pick6, 2 PM CT
White is coming off a solid performance in the win over the Clippers on Tuesday, racking up 27 points (9-16 FG, 6-10 3Pt, 3-3 FT), two rebounds, six assists, one steal and one block over 31 minutes. The electric guard has hit the line of at least 24.5 P+R+A in each of his last three outings and four of his last five, so the mini slump he had in late December and early January is now in the rearview. White has posted at least 25 P+R+A in 11 of his last 15 appearances dating back to Dec. 12, so he's been extremely productive over the last five weeks, and he should continue to do so in a matchup against a Timberwolves team that isn't known for its defensive prowess in the backcourt.
San Antonio Spurs vs. Utah Jazz: De'Aaron Fox over 23.5 points + assists -- Underdog, 2 PM CT
Fox has established himself as a reliable No. 2 option on offense behind Victor Wembanyama, but the star floor general has the ability to also make an impact as a playmaker when he's not focused on his scoring numbers. Fox is coming off a 14-point, five-assist performance against the Rockets on Jan. 20, and he finished with 14 points and eight dimes the last time he played Utah on Jan. 19. Even though Fox has reached this line in only two of his last 10 outings, he could deliver a bounce-back effort in a game that looks favorable on paper. He needs to improve based on what he's delivered over the last two games. Fox is averaging 16.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game since the beginning of January, so at least there's enough body of work to believe he might be hovering around that line.
