Yahoo DFS Baseball: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Baseball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

Yahoo brings a busy main slate Tuesday consisting of 12 games. With so many options to wade through, let's get right down to business and discuss some of the better players to consider for your lineup.

Pitchers

For the first time since his season debut, Yu Darvish ($59) allowed more than one run in his last outing against the Reds. He didn't exactly struggle, though, allowing three runs and recording nine strikeouts across six innings. He allowed just five total baserunners, which is an area that he has excelled in all season based on his 0.88 WHIP. Look for him to keep things rolling against the Indians, who have the fourth-worst OPS (.680) in baseball.

Injuries have once again been a common theme for the Yankees. While the majority of them have come to their hitters, their pitching staff is still missing James Paxton (forearm). His absence has opened up a starting spot for Deivi Garcia ($30), who is one of the top young arms within their organization. His second start of the season was a rough one against the Orioles, but he allowed three runs (two earned) across 13 innings in his other two outings. One of them came against the Blue Jays, who he will face again Tuesday. The first time they faced off, Garcia was stellar by allowing two runs and recording six strikeouts across seven innings. At his cheap salary, he could be worth a look in tournament play.

Top Targets

Everything has come together for Michael Conforto ($24) this season. He's on pace to blow past his previous career highs with a .425 wOBA and a 173 wRC+. He has been significantly aided by a .415 BABIP, so this type of success probably wouldn't be sustainable over the course of a normal 162-game season. Still, he's a great option here against Jake Arrieta ($25), who has posted a 1.49 WHIP on the heels of recording a 1.47 WHIP last season.

The Orioles scored 14 runs against the Braves on Monday and DJ Stewart ($20) was in the middle of the action, hitting 2-for-5 with a home run. He's been one of the leaders of the Orioles' lineup since joining the team, recording a .462 wOBA and a 195 wRC+. This is a favorable spot for him to continue his hot hitting against Huascar Ynoa ($25), who has a 6.75 ERA and an equally poor 6.34 FIP.

Bargain Bats

Stewart isn't the only hitter on the Orioles who might be worth targeting. As far as budget-friendly options go, Austin Hayes ($7) should be on your radar. He was activated from the IL on Monday and immediately chipped in by hitting 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored. He played well in limited action for the Orioles last year, although his numbers this season before he went down with an injury weren't great. Still, with Ynoa on the mound for the Braves, Hayes could provide value.

The Diamondbacks don't exactly have a great lineup, especially after they traded away Starling Marte. One of the better hitters that they have left is David Peralta ($14). He's been terrible with a .238 wOBA against left-handed pitchers, but he's been much better against righties by posting a .337 wOBA against them. Not only will he face a righty against the Angels, but he will face a struggling one in Julio Teheran ($28), who has a 6.60 FIP and a 1.57 WHIP.

Stacks to Consider

Braves vs. Tom Eshelman ($25) Orioles: Ronald Acuna Jr. ($27), Freddie Freeman ($27), Ozzie Albies ($19)

The Braves surprisingly struggled against Jorge Lopez on Monday, scoring just one run in their series opener with the Orioles. With that being said, don't overreact to one bad performance. The Braves still have the highest OPS (.829) in baseball, so they are an excellent team to stack here against Eshelman, who enters with a 6.00 FIP. Freeman was the lone offensive bright spot Monday, finishing 2-for-3 with a home run to give him at least two hits in six of his last seven games.

Rockies vs. Sean Manaea ($30), Athletics: Trevor Story ($25), Nolan Arenado ($17), Kevin Pillar ($17)

After a rough start to the season, Manaea has rebounded to allow six runs (four earned) across 22.1 innings over his last four starts. Three of those did come at home, where he has a 3.78 FIP and a 1.13 WHIP for his career. He hasn't been as special on the road, though, with a career 4.32 FIP and 1.26 WHIP. Add in having to go to Coors Field, and the Rockies could be in store for a big night. Keep an eye out for Arenado, who sat out Sunday with a shoulder injury. If he's back in the lineup, he could be a significant bargain at this salary.

Angels vs. Madison Bumgarner ($30), Diamondbacks: Mike Trout ($27), Anthony Rendon ($24), David Fletcher ($12)

As bad as Bumgarner's 7.52 ERA looks, his 9.06 FIP is even worse. His strikeout rate is a mere 13.7 percent and his WHIP sits at 1.56. That WHIP is even more of a problem when you consider that he has allowed 3.8 HR/9. That could end up being his downfall against the powerful duo of Trout and Rendon. Fletcher isn't much of a threat in the power department, but he's on pace to set a career high with a 117 wRC+ and he's a tough out give his 10.4 percent strikeout rate.
