Yahoo DFS Baseball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

Tuesday's 15-game MLB slate begins at 7:05 PM Eastern time. The pitchers recommended below are both in excellent form at the moment, and they're joined by batters ranging from $7 to $23. For those interested, we've started an MLB DFS slack channel for paid RotoWire subscribers. (There is a season-long one as well). To join those channels, e-mail support@rotowire.com.

PITCHER

Tyler Anderson, COL vs. ARI ($37): Pitching at Coors Field is always a bit risky, but that risk is already factored into Anderson's $37 price, which puts him below 15 other starters in this slate. The lefty has accumulated a 16-inning shutout streak over his last two starts, including eight frames of two-hit ball at home against the Giants last time out. Arizona ranks a pedestrian 12th with 4.47 runs per game and strikes out fifth-most at 9.18 per contest, so Anderson has the potential to carve up this lineup if he can maintain his strong recent form, especially since his strikeout rate sits at a solid 22.4 percent for the second consecutive campaign.

Miles Mikolas, STL at CWS ($46): Mikolas doesn't come cheap, but the NL leader in walk rate (3.9 percent) should live up to his $46 valuation against the lowly White Sox offense. The righty comes in with a 2.63 ERA and 9-3 record, which is likely to improve further considering the White Sox will counter with slumping starter Dylan Covey. Chicago strikes out a league-high 9.59 times per game and is one of the eight teams averaging fewer than 4.0 runs per contest, so Mikolas should be able to raise his lackluster strikeout rate while limiting damage.

CATCHER

Wilson Ramos, TB vs. DET ($16): Ramos has punished left-handed pitching in 2018, producing a .368 wOBA through 81 such at-bats. Tampa Bay's cleanup hitter has a great opportunity to keep rolling here with Detroit sending struggling southpaw Matt Boyd to the mound. Boyd's been shelled over his past four starts, allowing 21 runs (20 earned) over just 17 innings.

FIRST BASE

Yonder Alonso, CLE vs. CIN ($18): Alonso has a respectable .341 wOBA against righties overall this season, but that number jumps to .365 in the hitter-friendly confines of Progressive Field, which ranks second only to Coors Field with a 1.31 park factor. The left-handed slugger's success at home should continue against Reds righty Sal Romano, who has surrendered a .362 wOBA to batters from that side.

SECOND BASE

Brad Miller, MIL at MIA ($15): Miller has elite power for a middle infielder, as evidenced by his 30-homer campaign in 2016. He's spent some time in the leadoff spot since being acquired from the Rays in mid-June, and has a .350 wOBA against right-handed pitching between Tampa Bay and Milwaukee this season. Rookie Marlins righty Pablo Lopez will have a hard time getting the left-handed slugger out, as Lopez owns an ugly 5.73 ERA and 6.03 FIP through two major-league starts.

THIRD BASE

Miguel Andujar, NYY at BAL ($13): Andujar hasn't shied away from righty-on-righty matchups during his impactful rookie campaign, producing a .347 wOBA in that split that actually climbs to .374 on the road. Plenty of hitters have had success against Orioles right-hander Andrew Cashner, but he's allowed a higher wOBA to those from the right side (.368) than the left (.357). Andujar operated out of the cleanup spot Sunday and hits in the heart of a stacked Yankees lineup, creating no shortage of opportunities to pile up counting stats.

SHORTSTOP

Manny Machado, BAL vs. NYY ($18): Machado's thrived in righty-on-righty situations this season, producing a .409 wOBA that's far superior to his .345 mark against lefties. Yankees righty Masahiro Tanaka has a 4.78 road ERA and will be making his first big-league start since June 8 due to injuries in both hamstrings, so there's little not to like about this matchup.

OUTFIELD

Andrew Benintendi, BOS vs. TEX ($23): Benintendi's coming off a tremendous three-game weekend set in Kansas City during which he produced eight hits, including a home run and two doubles. He should have no problem maintaining that momentum in Fenway Park against Rangers starter Yovani Gallardo. The Boston-based venue ranks fourth in baseball with a park factor of 1.20, while Gallardo sports an 8.17 ERA and .382 wOBA allowed to left-handed hitters through 25.1 major-league innings this season.

Dexter Fowler, STL at CWS ($7): With a designated hitter spot available in the AL ballpark and fellow outfielder Tommy Pham battling an ankle contusion, the switch-hitting Fowler should find a spot in the lineup against the right-handed Covey. Fowler's available at just $7 after a recent absence due to paternity leave, creating a nice buy-low opportunity in a favorable matchup. Covey's surrendered a .364 wOBA to batters from the left side, and he's been shelled over his past four starts with 24 runs allowed (22 earned) over 15 innings.

Matt Kemp, LAD at SD ($18): Kemp has a blazing .420 wOBA through 91 at-bats against left-handed pitching this season, making him a steal at $18 in this situation. Rookie San Diego southpaw Eric Lauer's allowed a .386 wOBA to batters from the right side this season, and that number climbs to .406 at Petco Park, which is tied with Fenway for the fourth-most hitter-friendly park factor at 1.20.
