2025 Fantasy Outlook
Kempe provided 35 goals and 73 points across 81 regular-season outings in 2024-25, making it his third straight campaign with more than 25 goals and 65 points. He isn’t shy about firing the puck, supplying between 237 and 250 shots in each of his past four seasons, and he has a fairly economical 12.7 career shooting percentage -- elevated to 14.8 in 2024-25 -- which is why Kempe has now hit the 35-goal mark on three occasions. Kempe also spends some time in the penalty box, registering 36 PIM in 2024-25 and averaging 48 per 82 games over his 630 career regular-season appearances. Additionally, he records some hits, logging at least 100 in four consecutive seasons. He doesn’t necessarily have elite production, but he’s a solid bet to put forth another campaign with over 60 points, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see him record at least 30 goals. Kempe provided career highs in assists (47), points (75) and power-play points (27) last season. The only blemish was slipping from 41 goals to 28. Kempe posted an 11.4 shooting percentage in 2023-24 after scoring 76 goals and scoring at a rate of 15.3 percent across his previous two campaigns. Kempe should be able to light the lamp with more regularity in 2024-25, but it still may not be enough to get him over the 80-point plateau. Still, he has plenty of fantasy appeal as a multi-category producer. Kempe has surpassed 245 shots on goal and 110 hits for three consecutive seasons. Expect him to hit those marks again in 2024-25 while being one of the top scorers on the Kings.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Extension talks expected to pick up
General manager Ken Holland relayed that extension talks with Kempe will "ramp up here soon," Russell Morgan of Hockey Royalty reports Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Kempe's agent, JP Barry, has stated that Kempe wants to remain with the Kings, so there's probably no immediate rush on either side to hash out a contract extension. The Swedish winger has one year remaining on his current deal, which comes with a $5.5 million cap hit. Since the salary cap is rising in the NHL, combined with Kempe potting at least 35 goals in three of the last four regular seasons, the 28-year-old's AAV on his next deal could come in at around $10 million.
