Race Preview

Chase Briscoe took the checkered flag in the NASCAR Xfinity series visit to Pocono Raceway for his fourth win of the season. That puts him firmly atop the playoff standings with Noah Gragson and Harrison Burton closest behind on the wins list with two each. This week the series will try something new, racing on the road course at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Road course racing is not new to the series, but racing on this circuit is. The switch follows eight series races on the famed oval and is the first road course race of the 2020 season. Last year's visits to the road courses produced three different winners with Austin Cindric winning two of the four events. A.J. Allmendinger, winner of the 2019 Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course, is also in the field this weekend.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course is a 2.4-mile 14-turn road course that has hosted Formula 1, IndyCar and MotoGP, but this will be the first time it hosts the NASCAR Xfinity series. In a unique twist, Xfinity drivers will get two 50-minute practice sessions to get used to the track before racing, too. The series will be the second race of the venue's Saturday double-header with the stars of IndyCar. Indiana native Chase Briscoe will view this as a home race, which comes on the heels of his fourth series win last week at Pocono. His first series win came on the road course at Charlotte Motor Speedway in its debut on the schedule. He'll have to contend with Austin Cindric, whose two series wins came on the road courses last season.

The duo of AJ Allmendinger and Austin Cindric make a dream fantasy road course lineup. The pair have won on multiple road courses in their time in the series, and Saturday's race could turn out to be a battle between the pair. Alex Labbe plays a supporting role with top-10s on Charlotte's road course and at Mid-Ohio. A top finish this week could put him into the playoff picture as well. Anthony Alfredo will be a bit of an unknown this weekend with very little to see from a road course perspective, but with four top-10s in his rookie Xfinity season so far, it would not be surprising to see him walk away with a top-15 finish. Chad Finchum does have experience to look through, and while he hasn't been the best on these types of tracks, he is starting 37th on Saturday. That starting position should be a springboard for a good points day for fantasy owners, especially if he can score a top-20. Finally, Stephen Leicht started 26th and finished 19th on the Charlotte road course last season. He starts 28th on Saturday and could pull off another top-20 this weekend, too.

Chase Briscoe is the hottest driver in the series with four wins. His first series win came on the Charlotte road course in its debut, and it would be fitting if he did the same feat in the debut of the Indianapolis road course this season. Justin Allgaier has Xfinity road course wins at Mid-Ohio and Road America. He will start fifth. Harrison Burton showed he has road course potential last season at Charlotte. He started 22nd and finished 13th in that race and already has two wins so far this season. Myatt Snider is holding on to the final Xfinity playoff spot and has been picking up top-10 finishes here and there in 2020. He doesn't have much road course experience for fantasy players to analyze, but his 26th-place starting position puts him in a good place to earn finish differential points. Tommy Joe Martins and Vinnie Miller both offer the same for fantasy owners. They start deeper in the field but have some road course experience that could put them into the top 20 by the finish with some finish differential points in tow.
