Omarion Hampton

22-Year-Old Running BackRB

2025 Fantasy Outlook
Ashton Jeanty tends to hog the headlines, but if Jeanty were in any other draft there might have been more spotlight to properly appreciate Hampton as a prospect. Hampton is either blue-chip or close to it in his own right, making him a strong first-round candidate in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. At 6-feet, 221 pounds Hampton logged excellent athletic testing at the combine, running a 4.46-second 40-yard dash with strong jumps (38-inch vertical, 130-inch broad jump) to finalize a completely solid prospect profile. Hampton runs with both speed and power, granting him unique big-play upside in addition to an excellent volume grade. Hampton averaged over 23 carries and three catches per game in 2024, and more than 20 touches from scrimmage in 2023, boasting elite efficiency in both samples. If Hampton lands in the best-case scenario as a draft prospect then he could become one of the NFL's top fantasy backs immediately, even in 2025. It's not often that a running back prospect boasts both plus explosiveness and plus usage volume that Hampton does, and when they do they sometimes have a way of going in the first round of fantasy drafts the next season. Hampton has declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, Jordan Reid of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Hampton claimed the lead job in North Carolina's backfield in 2023, seizing it from Elijah Green after serving as the No. 2 back behind Green in 2022. Hampton would go on to register back-to-back 1,500-yard rushing campaigns for the Tar Heels, amassing 1,660 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior in 2024. While Hampton will avoid excess tread on his tires by leaving the college ranks after just three seasons, he did total 282 and 319 touches over the last pair of campaigns, amassing a combined 67 grabs for 595 yards and three scores in addition to his rushing prowess. He grades out as a solid rusher and receiver, per PFF, but his pass blocking may need a little work at the next level. Even so, he is among the candidates to be the second back off the board behind Ashton Jeanty in this year's draft.

Lance Zierlein of NFL.com projects Hampton to be selected by the Broncos with the 20th overall pick in his latest mock draft.
ANALYSIS
The Broncos are widely expected to utilize the draft to fortify their ground game, and Hampton, who Zierlein describes as a "hard-charging physical specimen," fits the bill well. The North Carolina product wrapped up his college career with elite numbers, rushing for a combined 3,164 yards and 30 touchdowns while averaging 5.9 yards per carry over his last two seasons and complementing those numbers with a 67-595-3 receiving line.
