PGA Tour Stats Review: Entering the RBC Heritage

Aside from the blown Sunday leads, Matt Kuchar has played very well this year, and his consistency has him sixth in scoring average.

The post-Masters wind down is a letdown for some, but a fun week for others as the PGA Tour hits a throwback week at the RBC Heritage at the Harbour Town Golf Links. One of the shortest and tightest golf courses the tour will play all year, accuracy is at a premium this week.

History Lesson

Last year, Graeme McDowell defeated Webb Simpson in a playoff. In 2012, Carl Pettersson beat Zach Johnson by five shots, in 2011 Brandt Snedeker beat Luke Donald in a playoff and in 2010 Jim Furyk beat Brian Davis in a playoff.

The only player who has done much of anything this season is Simpson - but he's not playing this week - so if you want to go by history then Snedeker and Furyk are your go-to picks this week, as both are steady players who have had success on this track.

RBC Sponsorship

No, RotoWire does not have an agreement with RBC, and no, this is not the start of a recurring segment going through the week's sponsors. However, of all the title sponsors on the PGA Tour, it can be argued that RBC has the best stable of golfers. The following players are both sponsored by RBC and in the field this week: Ernie Els, McDowell, Snedeker, Donald, Mike Weir, Stephen Ames, Furyk, Matt Kuchar, Hunter Mahan and David Hearn.

Of those, we would go with Kuchar. Although he's blown three straight leads on three straight Sundays in the last three weeks,

Who to Not Play

I know Jordan Spieth has defied any expectations anyone had for him, but the week after a crushing defeat at the Masters is not an easy transition to a completely different type of golf course. On the other hand, although he had the hooks on Sunday, his left tendency percentage is only 54.1 percent, which ranks 160th on tour. So if you want to take a chance, go ahead, but one has to wonder where his energy level is at the moment.

Driving Accuracy

Accuracy is at a premium this week. Here are the top players in that category playing this week:

David Toms - 76.27 percent
Tim Clark - 74.82
Zach Johnson - 72.66
Justin Hicks - 72.61
