This Week's WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship
The top-64 players in the Official World Golf Rankings go man-to-man in match play starting Wednesday. Play is at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club at Dove Mountain, Marana, Ariz., near Tucson.
While this is a resort course, it will play considerably different from the usual resort tracks. Jack Nicklaus designed and built the course, and in some years there were moans and groans by players. Be assured, the course will not be easy but iwill demand concentration and sharp play.
Like most Jack Nicklaus courses, the greens will present control and careful execution on the undulating surfaces and testing pin placements. Course management at its best is needed to survive.
In past years surprising upsets have appeared with lesser lights ousting higher-ranked players - in the first round!
