Golf Draft Kit: 2013-14 Rookies

CHESSON HADLEY
2013-14 Projected Earnings: $1,000,000

Season Outlook: Hadley, who earned a PGA Tour card via finishing third on the Web.com Tour money list, won twice this season. His first win came in June at the Rex Hospitals Open, followed by a huge win at the final event of the Finals, the Web.com Tour Championship, earning him the first spot on the all-important Reshuffle List. In total he made over $535K in 2013 and had eight top-10s in 22 starts. An extremely solid putter, Hadley seems primed for a strong rookie run on the PGA Tour.

Post-Fall Outlook: Hadley has one Top-10 in four starts on the PGA Tour, and that has bumped him to eighth place on the Reshuffle List entering the main portion of the 2013-2014 schedule. That's the good news. The bad news? He was 165th in driving accuracy among the 171 who teed it up in fall.

PATRICK CANTLAY
2013-14 Projected Earnings: $700,000

Season Outlook: Cantlay's name will be a familiar one for golf fans as he's become a pretty well-known quantity already, and he's merely 21 years old. He finished T21 at the 2011 U.S. Open, and made the cut in all five PGA Tour events he played in that year. In 2012 he made the cut in both The Masters and U.S. Open, and shot a 60 at the Travelers Championship - as an amateur. This year, as a professional on the Web.com Tour, he won the Colombia Championship in March and finished second at the Hotel Fitness Championship, a Web.com Tour Finals event. That finish clinched his card, which allowed him to rest up an ailing back that plagued him from much of the second half of the season. If healthy this kid can absolutely play and if given enough opportunities should shine this season on the PGA Tour. Fantasy owners wanting a hot-shot rookie will want to keep an eye on him.

Post-Fall Outlook: Cantlay choose to rest his back injury this fall, putting him 34th on the Reshuffle List entering the Sony Open in January. But the big advantage for him compared to others who didn't get a fall start is that he's a known quantity. Sponsors may take advantage of that and give him more exemptions into events he would have otherwise not gotten into.

PETER MALNATI
2013-14 Projected Earnings: $600,000

Season Outlook: What makes Malnati's season so impressive is that it didn't get started until June. He had no status and had to Monday-qualify and play his way into events, getting clutch finishes of T15-T24-T9 right out of the gate to earn enough money to get into subsequent events. All that hard work paid off when he shot a final round 65 to win the News Sentinel Open Presented by Pilot. He wound up with an 18th place finish on the money list and although he missed the cut in the final two Finals events, he begins his PGA Tour run with high hopes to turn some of that timely play from earlier this year into a huge paycheck on the big circuit. That ability to play with your back against the wall - just like Jordan Spieth did earlier this year - makes Malnati a name to watch in 2013-2014.

Post-Fall Outlook: Malnati only got two fall starts and made one cut, but a 15th-place finish at Mayakoba, featuring a Sunday 65, could be the harbinger of good things to come. He enters 2014 mid-pack on the Reshuffle List, in 18th.

WILL WILCOX
2013-14 Projected Earnings: $550,000

Season Outlook: Wilcox was part of the "Summer of 59" in golf, as he shot the sacred number in the final round of the Utah Championship Presented by Utah Sports Commission. He finished third that day, one of four top-10 finishes in 2013 that included a win at the South Georgia Classic Presented by First State Bank and Trust Company. However Wilcox chose to the take entire Web.com Tour Finals off, electing to rest after a busy season, according to what his manager told GolfChannel.com's Rex Hoggard. The only problem with that is one's Reshuffle List position - which determines priority entry into PGA Tour events - is decided during the finals, and that decision puts Wilcox in the next-to-last spot entering the stat of the 2013-2014 season. The bottom line: Wilcox will have to play strong golf during the fall portion of the schedule to improve his chances of getting enough starts in the early part of next 2014.

Post-Fall Outlook: Wilcox – whether by choice or by his poor Reshuffle List position – did not get a fall start and now is behind the 8-ball come January. He will absolutely have to play well in his initial opportunities on the PGA Tour to get more playing opportunities.

KEVIN FOLEY
2013-14 Projected Earnings: $500,000

Season Outlook: Foley, the New Brunswick, New Jersey product, got the year started off right by winning the very first event out of the gate, the Panama Claro Championship. He only had eight finishes on the year in the money, however, and saw a paycheck at just one of the Web.com Tour Finals events. As a result, he'll begin the new PGA Tour season 47th on the priority list. But for the player who hits the ball 303.5 yards per drive on average, if he can get the rest of his game in order, he can be someone to watch this coming season.

Post-Fall Outlook: Foley did not get a fall start and begins the year in a tough spot trying to break into events.

KEVIN TWAY
2013-14 Projected Earnings: $450,000

Season Outlook: The son of Champions Tour player Bob Tway, Kevin found the winner's circle at the Albertsons Boise Open Presented by Kraft, and added three other top-10s to amass over $260K and an eighth place finish on the money list to clinch his PGA Tour card. Finals finishes of MC (missed cut)-62-T52-MC, however, have him beginning the season in 46th spot on the Reshuffle List. A long hitter - he averaged over 310 yards this season - Tway will need to improve on his 110th position in the accuracy category to contend often on the PGA Tour.

Post-Fall Outlook: Two missed cuts in three starts have gotten Tway off to a rocky beginning of his rookie campaign, though his one finish was good enough to bump himself up a couple spots on the Reshuffle List. As a result, his overall outlook for the season is the same now as it was in October.

HUDSON SWAFFORD
2013-14 Projected Earnings: $420,000

Season Outlook: Swafford failed to get in the winner's circle in 2013 on the Web.com Tour but had a fantastic Finals, going T14-T7-T24 over the series' final three events. That got him a PGA Tour card and a pretty nice starting position of 21st on the Reshuffle List. Swafford finished eighth in the All-Around Ranking on the Web.com Tour in 2013, showing that he has a solid and well-rounded game that could do him well on the big circuit. If he gets comfortable early on, he's certainly got the talent to have some solid finishes this coming season.

Post-Fall Outlook: Swafford did not have a very strong start to the 2013-14 season, as he missed three cuts in the four events he entered. He only dropped four spots on the Reshuffle List, however, and if he plays well early should be able to make up for that poor beginning.

BRICE GARNETT
2013-14 Projected Earnings: $400,000

Season Outlook: Garnett didn't make it into the winner's circle in 2013 but he did end up near the top of a lot of leaderboards, getting a second, a third, and three other top-10s. One of those top-10s was an eighth place finish at the Chiquita Classic, one of the four Web.com Tour Finals events. He finished 14th on the regular season money list and came out of the Finals in the 23rd position on the Reshuffle List. Garnett was 81st in putting average on the Web.com Tour in 2013, something he'll need to improve upon in order to make it on leaderboards this coming season on the PGA Tour.

Post-Fall Outlook: Garnett has quietly done exactly what a rookie needs to do on the PGA Tour: earn money and points early. Finishes of T51-T53-T36-MC have Garnett 90th on the FedEx Cup points list, and while it's early, he may be thanking himself later for a strong fall performance.

BRONSON La'CASSIE
2013-14 Projected Earnings: $300,000

Season Outlook: La'Cassie had a spectacular 2013, getting a victory via a playoff at the Cox Classic Presented by Lexus of Omaha and added two ties for third at the Mid-Atlantic Championship and the Albertsons Boise Open Presented by Kraft. But on the negative side were 10 missed cuts and a 71st place ranking in the Greens in Regulation stat. All in all, however, it did lead to a seventh place money list finish and a PGA Tour card for 2013-2014. If La'Cassie wants to contend early and often on the PGA Tour he'll have to turn some of those missed cuts into finishes in the T45-T65 range. Those are the finishes that get you card when you're game is struggling most.

Post-Fall Outlook: La'Cassie was 0-for-2 in the fall schedule, shooting just one of four rounds in the 60s. That has put him 39th on the Reshuffle List and needing some good finishes in his early playing opportunities next year.

WES ROACH
2013-14 Projected Earnings: $300,000

Season Outlook: Roach had a strong start to the season, nabbing finishes of fifth, eighth and second within the season's first two months. In the end he wound up with eight top-25s and a 40th place starting spot on the Reshuffle List for next year. Roach was seventh in total driving in 2013, and will need to use that nice combination of distance and accuracy to give him lots of scoring chances in 2013 on the big circuit.

Post-Fall Outlook: Roach was 1-of-2 in the 2013 portion, getting a T23 in Cancun that bumped him to 24th on the Reshuffle List.

TYRONE VAN ASWEGEN
2013-14 Projected Earnings: $200,000

Season Outlook: To put it simply, Van Aswegen got solid finishes at the right times, and as a result got a PGA Tour card. He had three top-10 finishes, with two of them coming at two of the biggest (as in largest purses) events on the Web.com Tour schedule: the BMW Charity Pro-Am Presented by SYNNEX Corporation and the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship, which is part of the Web.com Tour Finals. The result: a trip to the big time and a 24th position to start the season on the Reshuffle List. A good bunker player (he was sixth in sand save percentage on the Web.com Tour last season), he'll need to use those scrambling skills to the fullest on the tougher courses that make up the PGA Tour schedule.

Post-Fall Outlook: Aswegen has a catch-22 going at the moment. Yes, he made the cut in three of the four events he's played, but the finishes (T40, T65, T49) haven't garnered him big money or FedEx Cup points. He'll need to improve on his driving accuracy (157th) to play well in 2014.

ANDREW LOUPE
2013-14 Projected Earnings: $200,000

Season Outlook: Loupe tied for sixth at the Web.com Tour Championship after rounds of 68-69-67-69, ending the week 32nd on the Reshuffle List after beginning it in 116th. Needless to say, he needed the strong finish desperately. Loupe was the longest hitter on the Web.com Tour, averaging 317 yards per pop, and longer than the longest hitter on the PGA Tour in 2013 (Luke List at just over 306 yards per drive). One of the unique things about this new wrap-around schedule is that there is suddenly such a thing called momentum from season-to-season, and riding off that strong finish at TPC Sawgrass, Loupe could be a nice fantasy pickup for a fall event.

Post-Fall Outlook: Loupe, who started the year down the list, didn't help his cause by going 0-for-2 in fall. Not helping his plight (with the disclaimer that this is with a very small sample size): he's next to last in driving accuracy and 165th in greens in regulation.

BENJAMIN ALVARADO
2013-14 Projected Earnings: $50,000

Season Outlook: While Alvarado's 2013 Web.com Tour season is to be commended - a win at the Brasil Classic Presented by HSBC in his third start of the year cinched his PGA Tour - the bigger headline is his Reshuffle List position. Alvarado, according to GolfChannel.com's Rex Hoggard, has been out win a left knee injury since the Albertson's Boise open Presented by Kraft in July. He tried to play the Web.com Tour Championship but was forced to withdraw, and as a result will start the year dead last on the priority rankings to get into PGA Tour events. Combined with the uncertain nature of the knee injury, Alvarado is a player fantasy owners will want to avoid.

Post-Fall Outlook: Alvarado did not make a start in the fall, so his plight is exactly as it was in October. He'll need good luck and good play when he gets that luck to keep his card for 2014-15.
