2025 Fantasy Outlook
Olave has looked the part of a first-round pick since New Orleans took him 11th overall in 2024, but he's never reached superstar status and now is in danger of having his career shortened by concussions. He has four on record in three NFL seasons, including two last year that limited him to eight games and led the Saints to shut him down even when reports suggested he technically could've played the final week or two. Olave had a pair of 1,000-yard seasons before that, both times with an aDOT above 13.0 and YPT above 8.0, with especially strong numbers on intermediate targets. His 4.39 speed also demands deep-ball respect, although Olave's yet to play in an offense that's made the most of that potential strength. He'll be in a new system this year, led by HC Kellen Moore and OC Doug Nussmeier, without much in the way of target competition besides RB Alvin Kamara and fellow wideout Rashid Shaheed (coming back from a meniscus tear). The issue lies under center, where second-round rookie Tyler Shough and 2024 fifth-round pick Spencer Rattler are the top candidates to start Week 1. The combination of concussion and QB concerns puts Olave's fantasy rank much lower than where he'd be if we evaluated on talent alone. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Scores TD in Week 14
Olave gathered in four of seven targets for 47 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 21-17 defeat to the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Olave suited up after dealing with back spasms that left him questionable to play Week 13. The wideout finished third on the Saints in targets, as Devaughn Vele logged eight targets while tight end Juwan Johnson led the team with nine. Olave still scored his second touchdown in the last three games, connecting with rookie QB Tyler Shough for the second time since he became the Saints' starter Week 9. Despite the Saints' quarterback struggles, Olave's consistency and WR1 usage make him a no-brainer starting option for fantasy purposes. The Saints next face the Buccaneers in Week 14.

Olave has mostly been as advertised since the Saints drafted him 11th overall in 2022, putting up back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons while making a living with his 4.39 speed and nifty route-running rather than yards after the catch. His second season featured 15 more catches, 81 more yards and one more TD than his debut campaign, but it was a product of adding 207 snaps. Olave was actually targeted on a slightly larger share of his routes as a rookie (26.9 percent to 25.1) and produced more yards per route (2.35 to 2.05) and per target (8.8 to 8.1), even though the Saints got an ostensible QB upgrade during the 2023 offseason. In practice, 2023 Derek Carr was similar to 2022 Andy Dalton, playing through numerous injuries and struggling to get anything going on passes that weren't thrown to Olave (138 targets), Rashid Shaheed (75) or rookie A.T. Perry (18). Those three accounted for half of the team's receiving TDs and 49 percent of the yardage on 40 percent of the targets, while RB Alvin Kamara and WR Michael Thomas got volume when they were available but didn't do much with it. Thomas is gone now and hasn't been replaced by another veteran, with Shaheed and Perry both profiling as deep threats but probably not volume guys. That leaves a lot of the burden on Olave's shoulders, potentially setting up a third-year breakout if things go well for Carr and the passing game under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Uncertain for Week 13
Olave is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Dolphins due to a back injury he suffered during Wednesday's practice, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Olave left Wednesday's practice with the injury and missed Thursday's session altogether before returning Friday on a limited basis. Head coach Kellen Moore said Olave "did well" within the context of his limitations Friday but added the team would "let this thing play itself out over the course of the next 48 hours," suggesting the talented receiver will likely be a true game-time decision.
