Ohio State has a couple of high-profile opt-outs in the receiving corps for Saturday with Olave joining Garrett Wilson among players sitting out. Past Fantasy Outlooks
2021
2020
Olave bypassed the 2021 NFL Draft to return to Columbus after churning out 50 receptions for 729 yards and seven touchdowns over seven games last year. Flanked by another star wideout in Garrett Wilson, Olave still led the team in all receiving categories, including targets per game (8.6) and yards per target (12.2). The question becomes what the Buckeyes’ new signal-caller can do. Olave’s success in 2021 could depend on how reliable the new starting quarterback is in his first year at the helm. Olave’s presence outside should make things much easier.
Olave managed to notch a breakout season in 2019 despite playing in a crowded offense with a lot of mouths to feed. He led the Buckeyes in YPT at 11.1 and touchdowns (12) on 76 targets. Now that K.J. Hill is gone, other receivers will get more opportunities, but Olave is positioned to be the clear No.1 in one of the nation’s most explosive offenses led by one of the nation’s best quarterbacks. Olave has a polished skill set to go with smooth athleticism and elite hands, and that combination in an offense like Ohio State’s makes him one of the top fantasy receivers in the country.
