NFL Picks: Backing the Giants

NFL Picks: Backing the Giants

This article is part of our NFL Picks series.

The Staff had a solid overall year, going 27-21-2 on unanimous picks, 131-120-5 on majority picks and collectively 48-37 on best bets.

This week, we all like the Giants, and Erickson and I both have the Steelers as our best bets.

EricksonThe seedings couldn't have worked out much better for the Steelers given the scenarios that could have happened. Their defense has improved considerably since the beginning of the season, and most of their key offensive players are healthy. If Ladarius Green can go, I see them putting up a big number... Texans-Raiders was my hardest call, but I've been underwhelmed by the Raiders for a while now.
PianowskiDetroit was a smoke-and-mirrors team for weeks, will now be exposed. I'm not as down on Seattle as everyone else appears to be.
LissThe Steelers are much better at home, and the Dolphins can't stop anyone. I expect the Steelers to push 40. I also like the Seahawks at home against a quarterback who wilts against better defenses.
StopaThe favorites are simply getting too many points this week. Seattle's splits without Earl Thomas aren't good. Miami hasn't seen a downgrade from Tannehill to Moore. Best bet, though, is a Giants team that will win outright. They're a more complete team than Green Bay.
Del DonThese are all tight lines, and the Houston/Oakland game might be the ugliest ever when it comes to starting quarterbacks in the playoffs with what I'd imagine is the lowest over/under of the season. Give me the home team with a pretty good defense facing a QB making his first start ever.
