Week 8 - Bye Weeks - AZ, DET, JAX, LAR, LV, SEA.
No London Game!
Welcome to the Weekly Value Meter Rankings. This is a guide to help you decide who to start and sit in a given week. It's is not a season-long ranking nor a draft guide, and it's also not really intended as a free agent guide. While I appreciate that you want my opinion on pickups, every league is different, and your decision on whether to add/drop a particular player might also be dictated by other factors than who is rated higher in a given week.
Here are my operating assumptions for the rankings:
- The RB/WR/TE position rankings are for PPR leagues.
- The Flex rankings are for Standard leagues.
- 1 point per 10 rushing/receiving yards.
- 1 point per 20 passing yards.
- 4 points per passing touchdowns.
These are the fantasy football rankings I use when I make my start/sit decisions. Please consult the rankings first before asking "Should I start Patrick Mahomes or Bryce Young?"
These are my particular rankings. If you want a second opinion elsewhere on the site, you can see our Weekly Projections.
Each week after Week 1, the first set of rankings will be posted late on Tuesday night. I will then do a set of updates before kickoff on Thursday, and again before kickoff on Sunday morning.
When setting your lineups, make sure to refer to the NFL inactives to ensure all of your players

Quarterbacks
1. | Patrick Mahomes KC vs. WAS |
2. | Josh Allen BUF at CAR |
3. | Dak Prescott DAL at DEN |
4. | Jalen Hurts PHI vs. NYG |
5. | *Lamar Jackson BAL vs. CHI Note: Jackson (hamstring) didn't participate in Monday's first practice after the bye, but the hope is still there that he'll start this week and we'll know more after Wednesday's practice. The line (BAL -6.5) certainly implies that he'll play. |
6. | *Bo Nix DEN vs. DAL Note: Nix was having an awful first three quarters against the Giants, but then turned in a monster fourth quarter with two rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns. |
7. | Caleb Williams CHI at BAL |
8. | Daniel Jones IND vs. TEN |
9. | *Drake Maye NE vs. CLE Note: Maye completed a whopping 93 percent of his passes in the win over the Titans. |
10. | *Baker Mayfield TB at NO Note: Mayfield struggled through his worst game of the season, missing multiple times on downfield throws with open receivers, perhaps due to the Lions' pass rush. |
11. | Jaxson Dart NYG at PHI |
12. | Jordan Love GB at PIT |
13. | Justin Herbert LAC vs. MIN |
14. | Joe Flacco CIN vs. NYJ |
15. | *Michael Penix ATL vs. MIA Note: Penix is day-to-day with a bone bruise in his foot/ankle. We'll find out more after Wednesday's practice whether Penix can go, or if we'll see Kirk Cousins. |
16. | Aaron Rodgers PIT vs. GB |
17. | *Carson Wentz MIN at LAC Note: Wentz will be the starter again this week, and J.J. McCarthy will be the emergency No. 3 quarterback again Thursday night. |
18. | Mac Jones SF at HOU |
19. | *Cam Ward TEN at IND Note: Ward was effective early against the Pats, but his fumble-six at the start of the third quarter effectively sealed the game. |
20. | *Tyrod Taylor NYJ at CIN Note: The Jets haven't made it official yet, but Taylor is likely to start this week after replacing Justin Fields in the third quarter last week. |
21. | *Spencer Rattler NO vs. TB Note: Rattler needed the dreaded vote of confidence of committing four turnovers against the Bears. Previously, he had thrown just one interception. |
22. | *C.J. Stroud HOU vs. SF Note: Stroud and the Texans reverted to form once they faced a real pass rush again. It didn't help that Nico Collins suffered a concussion in the second half. Houston hosts the Niners this week. |
23. | *Marcus Mariota WAS at KC Note: Mariota filled in capably when Jayden Daniels was hurt earlier this year, but he poured gasoline on the fire against the Cowboys, throwing a pick-six under pressure after coming in for Daniels in the third quarter. It's possible he could start Monday night against the Chiefs. |
24. | *Tua Tagovailoa MIA at ATL Note: Tagovailoa will get another start this week despite getting benched in favor of Quinn Ewers last week at Cleveland. |
25. | *Andy Dalton CAR vs. BUF Note: Dalton will start at least this week due to Bryce Young's high-ankle sprain. |
26. | Dillon Gabriel CLE at NE |
27. | *Jayden Daniels WAS at KC Note: Daniels struggled even before his hamstring injury, and while he was not helped by the Commanders' B-Team receivers, he was also off. His hamstring injury isn't considered significant, but that doesn't mean he's in the clear for Monday night against the Chiefs. |
28. | *Brock Purdy SF at HOU Note: The Niners will continue to monitor Purdy (toe) this week, but it'll be 'a stretch' that he can play in Week 8 against the Texans. |
29. | *Justin Fields NYJ at CIN Note: It's not great when the owner is throwing shade in your direction as the starting quarterback, but that's where we are with the Jets and Fields. He was benched for Tyrod Taylor last week and Taylor is likely to start this week. |
30. | Kirk Cousins ATL vs. MIA |
31. | Cooper Rush BAL vs. CHI |
32. | *Quinn Ewers MIA at ATL Note: Ewers and Zach Wilson will compete for the backup job this week behind Tua Tagovailoa. Ewers was the backup last week and saw some game action after Tagovailoa threw his third interception. |
33. | *Bryce Young CAR vs. BUF Note: Young suffered a high-ankle sprain in the win over the Jets and will miss at least Week 8. Andy Dalton will start. |
34. | *J.J. McCarthy MIN at LAC Note: McCarthy will be the emergency No. 3 quarterback again Thursday night. |
35. | Jared Goff DET at |

9. | Derrick Henry BAL vs. CHI |
10. | Javonte Williams DAL at DEN |

12. | Cam Skattebo NYG at PHI |
13. | D'Andre Swift CHI at BAL |
14. | J.K. Dobbins DEN vs. DAL |
15. | Breece Hall NYJ at CIN |
16. | Jaylen Warren PIT vs. GB |
17. | Rachaad White TB at NO |
18. | Jacory Croskey-Merritt WAS at KC |
19. | Jordan Mason MIN at LAC |
20. | *Isiah Pacheco KC vs. WAS Note: Pacheco was the feature back early on for the Chiefs over Kareem Hunt, even getting work at the goal line, where he cashed in his first rushing touchdown of the season. He faces a Commanders team that has been crushed on the ground the last two weeks. |
21. | Chase Brown CIN vs. NYJ |
22. | Alvin Kamara NO vs. TB |
23. | *Rhamondre Stevenson NE vs. CLE Note: Stevenson dominated the Patriots' RB workload against the Titans. |

25. | Tony Pollard TEN at IND |
26. | Kimani Vidal LAC vs. MIN |
27. | Kareem Hunt KC vs. WAS |
28. | Tyler Allgeier ATL vs. MIA |

30. | *Kyle Monangai CHI at BAL Note: Monangai looked fantastic in the win over the Saints, rushing 13 times for 81 yards and a score. |
31. | RJ Harvey DEN vs. DAL |
32. | *TreVeyon Henderson NE vs. CLE Note: Henderson didn't even get any work in garbage time against the Titans, netting just two touches the entire day. |
33. | Nick Chubb HOU vs. SF |
34. | Emanuel Wilson GB at PIT |
35. | *Aaron Jones MIN at LAC Note: Jones (hamstring) was designated to return from IR on Tuesday, thus allowing him to practice, after the Vikings declined to do so on Monday. There's a chance he plays on Thursday night. |
36. | Ray Davis BUF at CAR |
37. | Kenneth Gainwell PIT vs. GB |
38. | Sean Tucker TB at NO |

64. | *Hassan Haskins LAC vs. MIN Note: Haskins (hamstring) has been a non-participant in the first two practices of the week. If Haskins can't go, Nyheim Hines or Trayveon Williams would be next in line to back up Kimani Vidal. |
