DFS College Basketball: Wednesday Preview

DFS College Basketball: Wednesday Preview

This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.

As we begin action in the conference tournaments, both sites agree on the top games for Wednesday, so we will have no outlier games today.

SLATE OVERVIEW

Notre Dame (-9) vs. Boston College O/U: 140
Oklahoma State (-6.5) vs. Iowa State O/U:142
Mississippi (-3) vs. Georgia O/U: 144
St. John's (-2) vs. Georgetown O/U: 153
Indiana (-14) vs. Nebraska O/U: 144
North Carolina (-2) vs. Syracuse O/U: 149.5
TCU (-2) vs. Kansas State O/U: 127
Arkansas (-9) vs. Vanderbilt O/U: 147.5
Xavier (-4.5) vs. DePaul O/U 135
Stanford (-10) vs. California O/U: 128

ELITE PLAYERS

Tyrique Jones, Xavier (DK $8,200, FD $7,600) vs. DePaul

The O/U in this game is a bit troubling, but I still think Jones is worth the price. His two-game average versus DePaul is impressive, with 10.5 points and 11.5 rebounds across two contests. DePaul also has a major rim protector in Paul Reed questionable due to a hip injury, and if he sits, it could boost the value of Jones even further.

Garrison Brooks, North Carolina (DK $8,700, FD $8,000) vs. Syracuse

The Heels are starting to look more like the team we expected to see at the beginning of the season now that Cole Anthony is back, but I still favor Brooks over the freshman.  In fact, I think Anthony's re-insertion into the lineup will only improve Brooks' opportunities as teams try to key in on the dynamic freshman. Due to their anemic record, every game may be their last this week, and it could very well be the last we see of Anthony and Brooks in a UNC uniform.  I anticipate Brooks will try to make the best of it.

Elijah Hughes, Syracuse (DK $8,100, FD $7,700) vs. North Carolina

Hughes emerges as an ideal GPP candidate on this slate for a couple of reasons.  First, some people may shy away from due to his recent departure from concussion protocol, so his ownership could take a hit.  Second, he can show up with huge numbers one night and lay a goose egg the next. We're looking to capitalize on a potential big ceiling-night in the 30-plus FP range by spending here.  In his sole game against the Heels, he put up 27 FP during a cold shooting night for the 6-6 junior.

Breein Tyree, Mississippi (DK $7,600, FD $7,100) vs. Georgia

The pace of this game should be ideal for DFS targets, and I like Tyree's game history against the Bulldogs.  In the lone game against Georgia, Tyree produced 20 points, four rebounds and four assists on the way to a 37 FP score. He's now amassed double-digit scoring totals in 10 straight games, averaging 23.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists over that span.

Isaiah Joe, Arkansas (DK $7,000, FD $5,200) vs. Vanderbilt

Joe's salary has risen to a more appropriate level on DraftKings, but I find the FanDuel price to be a real miss on the site and an immense value as a result. Joe's five-game absence is the reason Joe got down to this level, and DraftKings has adjusted his price as he rounds back into form.

Also consider: Trayce Jackson-Davis, Indiana (DK $7,400, FD $7,000) vs. Nebraska

VALUE PLAYS

Cameron McGriff, Oklahoma State (DK $6,900, FD $5,800) vs. Iowa State

This game might have the most underused rosters on the slate.  Rather than aim high, we can slot McGriff in below 7k on DraftKings, and get a really good value for him on FanDuel. Over his past six games, the senior power forward has averaged 19.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists.  The highlight of that span of games was a 28/7 line against Oklahoma, so the ability to pop is certainly there against an Iowa State team that ranks 292nd in scoring defense and 288th in total rebounding percentage.

Bourama Sidibe, Syracuse (DK $6,600, FD $5,500) vs. North Carolina

Sidibe put up his best game of the season against the Tar Heels, tallying 17 points, 15 rebounds and a whopping six blocked shots on the way to a 51 FP score. While UNC is experiencing a bit of a surge, they're probably not thrilled to run into Sidibe and the Orange in the ACC Tournament, as Sidibe totally shut down Armando Bacot a couple of weeks ago.

Qudus Wahab, Georgetown (DK $5,100, FD $4,800) vs. St John's

Omer Yurtseven's (ankle) status is still uncertain, but it appears that this isn't just a garden-variety sprain.  I expect Wahab to start once again in his place. While he's only averaged nine points and 7.3 rebounds over four starts, you could do a lot worse at this price point, and I'm happy to take a risk with a starter in a high-paced game at low cost.

Desi Sills, Arkansas (DK $5,300, FD $4,700) vs. Vanderbilt

Sills has lost the starting gig due to sub-par play, but he's still averaging 31 minutes off the bench over the past five games.  After four good showings in a reserve role, he stumbled against Texas A&M, but I'm viewing that game as an outlier in comparison to what Sills can produce on a regular basis.  I think he'll rise to the occasion against the Commodores.

Dane Goodwin, Notre Dame (DK $4,900, FD $4,700) vs. Boston College

Goodwin's price is great for this game, and the shooting guard is probably one of the best sixth-men in the conference.  Despite playing a reserve role, he still manages to see an average of 26 minutes on the court. When his 3-point game is humming, he provides a great shot in the arm for the Irish. Although he didn't so much in two games against the Eagles, he's averaged around 27 FP over his past two contests.

GAME TO TARGET

St. John's (-2) vs. Georgetown O/U: 153

We gave this game some love already, but it's just a sampling of what's available in this game. Both Justin Champagnie (DK $7,000, FD $7,200) and L.J. Figueroa (DK $6,800, FD $6,600) are reasonably priced for St. John's, and we continue to see good numbers from Jahvon Blair (DK $6,700, FD $6,000) as the Hoyas continue to deal without Mac McClung (foot).

GAME TO FADE

Stanford (-10) vs. California O/U:128

There are a couple of games that could qualify here, but the combination of a wide spread and low total beat out the TCU-Kansas State matchup.  The Bears' slow pace of 65.1 will drag down any team's tempo, including Stanford, who's heavily favored in this game despite dropping their last two contests. The Cardinal are a lot weaker than their 20-11 record may indicate, and I expect a fairly messy matchup that isn't worth a mention in my book.
