This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.
Wednesday's college hoops slates are actually identical on both major sites today, with one key exception. FanDuel has combined all five games into one contest, while DraftKings has put the first three games in a contest, and the final two games in an evening offering. We'll cover all five games today.
Wichita State (-19.5) vs. East Carolina O/U: 141
San Diego State (-13) vs. Fresno State O/U: 125.5
SMU (-6.5) vs. South Florida O/U: 125.5
Cincinnati (-1.5) v. Connecticut O/U: 136.5
Creighton (-3) vs. Marquette O/U: 151.5
ELITE PLAYS
Jayden Gardner, East Carolina (DK $8,400, FD $8,100) @ Wichita State
Gardner is a prolific scorer and a nightly double-double threat. Some might fade ECU in what looks like a lopsided matchup from the sportsbooks, the game has the second-highest O/U on the slate, which gives me some confidence about going this route. He also has an exceptional floor with the ability to pop well over 40 FP.
Isiaha Mike, SMU (DK $8,200, FD $7,800) vs. USF
Mike is another double-double candidate on the slate. The Bulls possess a strong defense and a good rebounding game, but Mike has distinguished himself against some strong opponents and should be a reliable contributor today.
Malachi Flynn, San Diego State (DK $8,100, FD $7,700) @ Fresno State
The Aztecs are nationally ranked and Flynn is responsible for their unexpected string of wins. You can find some other talent on the team but they all pale in comparison to Flynn, who seems to feel right at home with the Aztecs after transferring from Washington State. He should be good to hit somewhere in the vicinity of his stable floor, which should be in the high 30-FP range.
Chris Vogt, Cincinnati (DK $6,700, FD $6,100) vs. Connecticut
Since transferring from Northern Kentucky, the 7-1 sophomore has played some consistent ball and is a size mismatch for almost any team he faces. You'd like to see a few more rebounds from him but he'll deliver one or two blocks per game to help you offset that slight deficiency.
Also consider: Markus Howard, Marquette (DK $8,800, FD $8,300), Kendric Davis, SMU (DK $8,500, FD $7,400)
VALUE PLAYS
Denzel Mahoney, Crieghton (DK $5,400, FD $5,600) vs. Marquette
While he hasn't found his way into the starting lineup yet, it may only be a matter of time before the Southeast Missouri State transfer wrestles the gig from someone in the frontcourt. He's still getting an average of 24 minutes of court time per game and has considerable upside if they give him a bit more usage.
Jordan Schakel, San Diego State (DK $5,200, FD $5,000) vs. Fresno State
The three-year starter isn't going to wow you with huge stat lines, but all of the Aztecs set up well against their conference rival tonight, and Schakel is ideally priced. Spending this amount on Schakel will free up some cash for elites, especially guys in the high-6k range that you can reach for.here.
Christian Bishop, Creighton (DK $5,600, FD $5,300) vs. Marquette
While the aforementioned Denzel Mahoney steals some minutes from Bishop when he gets into foul trouble, Bishop can put up a nice score if he can stay on the floor- he's fouled out in to of his last five games, and recorded four fouls in one those games. He's gotten close to a double-double a number of times this season, but usually comes up one or two rebounds short of the bonus.
Mika Adams-Woods, Cincinnati (DK $4,200, FD $3,900) vs. Connecticut
Adams-Woods has won the starting gig at point guard and the freshman is already showing some promise over his first two starts. His minutes boost will allow him to eclipse his typical averages with ease.
GAME TO TARGET
Creighton (-3) v.s Marquette, o/u 151.5, 9 pm EST
I think this will be the most competitive game on the slate. We've already singled out Markus Howard, Christian Bishop and Denzel Mahoney, there are still more players to endorse in this constest. Marcus Zegarowski (DK $8,300, FD $7,200) and Ty-Shon Alexander (DK $7,800, FD $6,800) are great elite adds for Creighton, while some additional cheaper plays like Marquette's Sacar Anim (DK $6,400, FD $6,100) and Marquette's Theo John (DK $4,900, FD $5,800) could also come in handy.
GAME TO FADE
Wichita State (-19.5) vs. East Carolina, o/u 141, 3 pm EST
I identified Gardner due to ECU's need to lean on him throughout the game, but the Shockers are another story. It could be a bit of past-game bias on my part, but every time I've played a guy on their roster, they've under-performed for me. When you add in the blowout potential, I'm inclined to pass on almost every target in this matchup.
