This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.
Wednesday's slate is thankfully pretty clean for us, as the slates for the two top sites share six games. DraftKings tacks on two additional games, and we will tackle those matchups individually.
SLATE OVERVIEW
LSU (-9.5) vs. East Tennessee State O/U: 152
Tennessee (-1.5) @ Cincinnati O/U: 130.5
Michigan State (-12) @ Northwestern O/U: 137
Gonzaga (-13) vs. UNC O/U: 145.5
Saint Mary's (-2.5) @ Arizona State O/U: 137.5
Kentucky (-11.5) @ Utah O/U: 139
Oregon (-19) vs. Montana O/U; 130.5 (DRAFTKINGS ONLY)
Louisville (-23) vs. Miami (Ohio) O/U: 140 (DRAFTKINGS ONLY)
ELITE PLAYERS
Xavier Tillman, Michigan State (DK $8,200, FD $7,700) @ Northwestern
Tillman enters this game averaging a double-double per game and has put up 23 rebounds over the past two games. It figures to be another good night for Tillman to crash the boards, as the Wildcats rank 133rd in total rebound percentage and are an especially poor offensive rebounding team.
Malik Fitts, Saint Mary's (DK $7,900, FD $6,900) @ Arizona State
Fitts is coming off an excellent contest against Cal, where he put up a season-high 28 points while drilling 5-of-6 threes in the process. The sportsbooks indicate that this game will be competitive, so I expect Fitts to keep trending up tonight.
Romello White, Arizona State (DK $7,700, FD $7,600) vs. Saint Mary's
White is in the midst of a four-game run of double-doubles, and while the Gaels are a decent rebounding team, White's competition has been fairly stiff as well. He's easily the best option behind Remy Martin in the Sun Devils' offensive attack and based on recent history, is a better value than his counterpart at this price.
Armando Bacot, UNC (DK $7,700, FD $5,800) @ Gonzaga
Based on the first game without Cole Anthony (knee), Bacot took on an increased load and is being called upon to absorb some output in the freshman's absence. Bacot is just coming off an injury himself, but he logged 25 minutes in his return to action and appears to be 100 percent. He's an especially attractive add on FanDuel due to the reduced price.
Also consider: Keith Williams, Cincinnati (DK $7,200, FD $6,800), Javonte Smart, LSU (DK $6,800, FD $6,300), Darius Days, LSU (DK $7,200, FD $6,400)
VALUE PLAYS
Jeromy Rodriguez, East Tennessee State, (DK $5,500, FD $5,100) @ LSU
Rodriguez is streaky and Wednesday's game will be one of the Buccaneers' toughest tests to date, but you have to like Rodriguez's tournament potential due to the high ceiling he can potentially demonstrate. A nightly double-double threat, the 6-7 senior put up a monstrous 28/16 line against Citadel recently. You can't expect a number that high, but he's a reasonable risk-reward candidate to target.
Alonzo Verge, Arizona State (DK and FD, $5,400) vs. St. Mary's
Verge posted his best numbers against Prairie View and Georgia in ASU's last two contests. He's also exceeding his usual usage with 27 minutes in his past two games. Verge is stuck behind Remy Martin on the depth chart but is still seeing enough court time to be relevant at this price.
Josiah James, Tennessee (DK $5,200, FD $4,800) @ Cincinnati
The freshman point guard got the starting nod for the Volunteers right out of the gate, but was underwhelming through the first month of the season. He;'s come alive in the past two games, however. Although he needs to move the ball around more and get his assist totals to an acceptable level, he's showing enough potential to throw him into some lineups at this price point.
Gabe Brown. Michigan State (DK $4,500, FD $4,800) @ Northwestern
The sophomore has hopped in and out of the starting lineup with mixed results, but he's now started two straight games with an average of 30 minutes on the floor over that span. It's hard to find a member of any starting five at this price, and Brown should provide a decent number of points and rebounds if he gets the start again tonight.
LOUISVILLE vs. MIAMI (OHIO) - DRAFTKINGS
Jordan Nwora ($8,600) and Steven Enoch ($6,100) are my top two plays for the Cardinals, and I also like Malik Williams ($4,800) as Louisville's best value play. Dalonte Brown ($6,300) is the leading scorer for the Redhawks, but I'd also give a look to Bam Bowman ($4,700) as a value grab - he put up 32.5 DKFP in 25 minutes during his last matchup.
OREGON vs. MONTANA - DRAFTKINGS
Oregon's Payton Pritchard ($8,700) and Montana's Sayeed Pridgett ($8,300) are top targets in this contest. For value, former New Mexico State star Anthony Mathis ($5,200) is playing well for the Ducks, and if you re really want to take a risk, you've got 6-11 freshman N'Faly Dante ($4,500) making his Oregon debut tonight.
GAME TO TARGET
Gonzaga (-13) vs. UNC, o/u 145.5, 9 p.m. EST
I'm not just going on name value here. We already gave a nod to Bacot for the Heels, but we completely overlooked the Bulldogs in our endorsements. Filip Petrusev (DK $7,500, FD $7,000) is a beast on the boards, and Joel Ayayi (DK $7,300, FD $6,700) should get another start with Killian Tillie sidelined. Aside from Bacot, Garrison Brooks (DK $7,500, FD $5,900) will need to step up in Cole Anthony's absence. My favorite value play for the game is Gonzaga's Drew Timme (DK $5,600, FD $5,000).
GAME TO FADE
Utah (-11.5) vs. Kentucky, o/u 139, 11 p.m. EST
We gave no love whatsoever to this game, which figures to be a lopsided match in Kentucky' s favor. Ashton Hagans (DK$7,900, FD $7,300) is a great play for Kentucky, but I think the Utes will get blown out here, leaving uncertainty among Utah's starters and the Kentucky bench.
