This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.
Today we've got a micro slate featuring the ACC. Three games on FanDuel, two on DraftKings. Here we go.
Targets
Matthew Hurt, F, Duke ($8,300 FD, $8,700 DK)
The most obvious play of the day, but that doesn't make Hurt any less valuable given the matchup. Duke is expected to score the most points of any team on the slate, mostly because Boston College is awful. The Eagles have the worst defensive efficiency in the ACC, and Matthew Hurt is easily Duke's best offensive player. Doesn't get any easier than that.
Makai Ashton-Langford, G, Boston College ($6,500 FD, $5,900 DK)
Double-dipping in the same game because, one, we're working with a short slate, and two, it has the highest over/under number by a wide margin. The best DFS option for Boston College is point guard Ashton-Langford, who missed several games earlier in the season but appears to be hitting his stride entering the ACC tournament. Since conference play started, Ashton-Langford has the seventh-highest assist rate and sixth-highest steal rate in the ACC.
Juwan Durham, F, Notre Dame ($5,500 FD)
Wake Forest has had the second-worst defense in the ACC since conference season started, so Durham and the Fighting Irish should put up plenty of points. Durham has the second-highest usage rate on the team, while also posting the tenth highest offensive efficiency rating in the conference. He has also the sixth-highest block rate in the ACC, which is notable because Wake Forest happens to give up the highest rate of blocked shots in the conference. Durham couldn't ask for a better matchup.
Fades
Anthony Walker, F, Miami ($6,300 FD, $6,800 DK)
Miami has the second-worst offensive efficiency in the ACC, so taking any Hurricane carries a bit more risk. Walker, specifically, might not provide any value because he has the worst offensive efficiency rating among key Miami players. Also, this is a tougher matchup for Walker because Pittsburgh is a strong rebounding team. He might not collect as many rebounds as usual.
Justin Champagnie, G, Pittsburgh ($9,000 FD, $9,200 DK)
Double-dipping again, this time because this game easily has the lowest over/under number on the board. Miami's defense is stronger than its offense, which isn't saying much but still makes Champagnie a liability if Miami pulls an upset. Champagnie has slightly cooled off over the past couple of weeks compared to earlier in the season, giving me enough reason to pass on him for today's contests.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Wake Forest has the worst offensive efficiency in the ACC, and its player with the highest salary (Ian DuBose) is only averaging 17 fantasy points over his past four games. If you're looking for a flier, I'd suggest Daivien Williamson or Carter Whitt. The former plays the most minutes on the team, while the latter is the team's point guard and might be able to squeeze out some value considering his salary is the minimum.
