This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.
Friday's College Basketball action includes a six-game DFS slate with matchups from the Atlantic-10, MAC, MAAC and Mountain West conferences. DraftKings features their $10 Big Jam Contest with a $2,000 top payout and a 7 p.m. EST start time.
Top Players
Mark Sears, G, Ohio ($8,500 DK)
The Ohio/Buffalo matchup features the highest over/under on the slate and is a particularly good matchup for Ohio, as Buffalo ranks in the top-20 nationally in tempo and has been weaker on the defensive side of the ball. Sears has been one of the best mid-major players in the country with efficient 50/43/91 shooting splits and leads the team with a 29.1 percent usage rate. He's a good target at the top of the slate tonight with four 40+ fantasy performances over his last six games.
Ryan Rollins, G, Toledo ($8,400 DK)
Rollins comes in $1,200 higher than last Friday but with good reason -- he's recorded four consecutive games with over 40 fantasy points. He's been the clear workhorse for Toledo with double-digit shot attempts in all but one game this season while still managing to shoot 47 percent from the field with 1.6 makes from deep per game. I like paying up for Sears and Rollins and filling out the rest of the roster with the many good value options under $6k.
Middle Tier
Xavier Castaneda, G, Akron ($6,100 DK)
Castaneda figures to be a chalky option on this slate having recorded at least 20 fantasy points in each of his last 11 games, with a ceiling game of 49.75 points. A matchup against 16-4 and MAC leader Toledo may look difficult at first glance, but the Rockets are allowing 72.8 ppg over their last five, as their strength is on offense and they like to push the tempo. Castaneda is shooting 37 percent from long-range with over two made per game.
Ronaldo Segu, G, Buffalo ($5,700 DK)
Segu is part of a dominant trio for Buffalo alongside Jeenathan Williams and Josh Mballa that are all averaging over 13 ppg. Segu has reached double figures in all but one game this season and has been able to score from deep as well as when driving to the basket. His floor is incredibly safe for this price range, as he usually only comes off the court for just a few minutes a game and is also averaging 4.9 assists during MAC play.
Values
Enrique Freeman, F, Akron ($4,900 DK)
Freeman is a must-have at this salary, as his 29.7 fantasy ppg average is the 13th highest on the slate, and 11 of the 12 ahead of him are priced $7,000 or higher. He's been an effective post player for the Zips, shooting 64 percent from inside the arc with nine double-doubles while averaging 1.1 fantasy points per minute. Toledo is not a great rebounding team, so another double-double should be in store.
Brendan McGuire, F, Quinnipiac ($4,500 DK)
McGuire has played a significant role off Quinnipiac's bench, logging 25+ minutes in each of the last five games, and he has responded with at least 24 fantasy points in each of those games. He's been very active in the passing game during that stretch with 5.6 assists per game while also contributing on the glass. A matchup with 8-10 Marist shouldn't be of much resistance.
