Tonight's featured action is in the Big Ten Conference opener with a pair of 7-0 teams, as Iowa travels to West Lafayette for a showdown with second ranked Purdue. The main contest on DraftKings is the $10 Big Jam with $2,000 to first and a five game slate, with the action on FanDuel also starting at 6 p.m. EST for their $7.77 All-American and a $500 top prize.
Top Players
Keegan Murray, F, Iowa ($8,200 DK, $8,800 FD)
Murray has been one of the most impressive players in all of college basketball thus far and his 45.2 fantasy points per game is the most of anyone in action tonight. An efficient role player as a freshman for Iowa last season, he's quickly taken over Luka Garza's spot as the team's go-to-guy with a team-high 31.7 percent usage rate. Murray is coming off a solid showing against a stout Virginia defense, where he was just one rebound away from a double-double.
Zach Edey, F, Purdue ($7,200 DK, $7,900 FD)
I'll stick with the Iowa/Purdue game as this is a great game to target with it having the highest over/under on the slate. Iowa has struggled defensively over recent years, most recently allowing Virginia to score a season-high 74 points. The 7-4 Edey is a matchup nightmare and the Hawkeyes will have a difficult time putting up much resistance without having anyone over 6-9 in their rotation. He should have a great opportunity for a double-double.
Middle Tier
Posh Alexander, G, St. John's ($6,800 DK, $8,200 FD)
While Julian Champagnie garners the most attention on the Red Storm (with good reason), Alexander is no slouch himself, averaging a whopping 1.12 fantasy points per minute. That makes him a great target in this price range, especially considering he's likely to see around 35 minutes. The sophomore point guard is difficult to defend with his ability to shoot the three and score when driving to the basket.
Christian Braun, G/F, Kansas ($6,600 DK, $7,600 FD)
Braun is off to a nice start so far, posting 15+ points in over half of Kansas' games on 61 percent shooting. He provides great fantasy value with his ability to produce across the stat-sheet, leading the team in rebounds and ranking second in assists. This should be a solid matchup against a St. John's squad that likes to push the pace and has allowed 70+ points in 4-of-6 games against a soft schedule.
Values
Cliff Omoruyi, F, Rutgers ($5,100 DK, $7,100 FD)
Omoruyi didn't see much playing time last season as a freshman behind Myles Johnson but is now getting his opportunity and looking the part. Over his last three games he's averaging 29.5 fantasy ppg, and he's been efficient overall with 7.9 rebounds per game while shooting 64 percent from the floor. Even in a tough matchup against Illinois center Kofi Cockburn, Omoruyi is too hard to pass up at a $2,000 discount compared to FanDuel.
Patrick McCaffery, F, Iowa ($4,000 DK, $4,900 FD)
McCaffery will likely be a popular choice on DraftKings with his low salary, as you don't often see guys around $4k that are starters and significant contributors in the offense (23.5 shot percentage). He'll be a difficult player for Purdue to defend with his 6-9 size on the wing and should be able to get plenty of good looks. McCaffery also provides a great floor with at least 17 fantasy points in all five of his games this season.
