FanDuel NBA: Friday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NBA series.

Point Guard

Donald Sloan, $4,500 - Sloan continues to start at point guard for the Nets and appears to have adjusted nicely to his new role. He has at least 25 minutes in each of his last four contests and scored 25.7, 29.6, 23.8 and 36.3 fantasy points in each of those games. The key to his success has been distributing the ball as he has averaged over exactly nine assists over that time span. While Utah plays a slower paced game, they don't have any elite defenders at point guard.

Tyler Johnson, $4,300 - Earlier in the day Friday teammate Goran Dragic was listed as questionable but he was later ruled out for certain. Johnson will draw another start at point guard for the Heat and rebounded nicely last game with 20.9 fantasy points after his 10.3 dud against the Bucks. The good news here is he's been logging minutes in the 30s over his last four and eclipsed the 20-fantasy point mark in five of his last six contests.

Shooting Guard

*Note: Kris Middleton ($7,400) is now being listed as a shooting guard on Fan Duel.

Monta Ellis, $6,300 - Revenge game! Ellis started his career and became the face of the Warriors franchise before stating his game and Stephen Curry's would not work together after a lottery pick was used on Curry. Ellis (with Ekpe Udoh and Kwame Brown) was later traded to the Milwaukee Bucks for Andrew Bogut and Stephen Jackson. Tonight Ellis returns to Golden State and has 29 fantasy points in five of his last six games. Ellis should log plenty of minutes plus see an uptick in usage while he mans the point with George Hill out once again.

Jamal Crawford, $4,400 - Crawford isn't the sexiest pick but has developed a safe floor if money is needed to be spent elsewhere. He's scored at least 20 fantasy points in five straight games before last night's tilt with the Cavaliers and even in that game he still managed 17. The odd thing about last night's game is he didn't record a rebound or assist for the first time in a long time. That suggests it was a little fluky and he should get back to surpassing the 20-fantasy point mark tonight.

Small Forward

Justise Winslow, $3,700 - Winslow could be a very sneaky pick tonight depending on the healthy of the other Miami players. He tied a season-high 36 minutes last game with his teammates ailing and could be in for similar playing time tonight. Winslow parlayed the extra playing time into 24.2 fantasy points last game a number good for over 6.5X his value. Watch the injury report leading off to tip-off to see if Winslow gets another start.

Tobias Harris, $5,800 - Harris' production has steadily risen since the beginning of the month when he started the new year with two fantasy point efforts of 12 points in his first four games. Since he's improved and has at least 20 fantasy points in each of his last five games and score at least 31 in three of those. Helping his potential for tonight is the fact that a good defender - Nic Batum - has already been ruled out. Look for Tobias to fill the stat sheet once again tonight.

Power Forward

Aaron Gordon, $4,200 - It seems silly at this point that Channing Frye is holding Gordon out of the starting lineup and it's rumored that Scott Skiles is going to make a change tonight. It's likely that Gordon moves into the starting lineup given his uptick in production the last few weeks. Gordon has at least 17 fantasy points in eight of his last 10 games and if inserted into the starting lineup should see an uptick in minutes. Also, the Hornets have a depleted frontcourt for this contest helping his fantasy prospects.

Julius Randle, $5,500 - Randle was a popular pick the other night once it was announced that he would start for the injured Larry Nance. Nance is expected to miss tonight's game as well which should mean another start for Randle and give him around 31 minutes once again. He's been very consistent as of late with at least 20 fantasy points six straight games but the potential is there for more. Granted, the Spurs aren't an ideal matchup but they will likely spread out the playing time meaning he won't always see LaMarcus Aldridge or Tim Duncan underneath the hoop.

Center

Spencer Hawes, $3,500 - Hawes is the prime punt play tonight at center given that both Cody Zeller and Al Jefferson have been ruled out. The Hornets really don't have much more depth at center past Hawes who should likely see a season-high in minutes. He should have no trouble making 5X his value here, something he's actually done in two of his last three games. Teammate Frank Kaminsky ($4,500) is worth consideration as well and pairing the two in a GPP would make for an interesting strategy.
