Yosver Zulueta

Yosver Zulueta

27-Year-Old PitcherRP
Cincinnati Reds
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Zulueta, 27, was a rising prospect with the Blue Jays but was exposed to waivers during spring training last year, and the Reds swooped in and assigned him to Triple-A Louisville. He made his MLB debut in 2024, taking the Louisville-to-Cincinnati shuttle six times between June and the end of the season. He throws gas - 84th percentile in MLB - but control issues have dogged him since blipping the baseball radar in Toronto. Six of eight bullpen spots appear set, and Zulueta will compete with several arms for the final two spots. Read Past Outlooks

Farm Futures: Relief Pitching Prospect Rankings
February 23, 2024
James Anderson goes team-by-team to highlight which pitching prospects could ascend to the closer role in the coming years, including A's righty Mason Miller.
2023 Fantasy Outlook
Zulueta is one of Toronto's top prospects, and the organization added him to the 40-man roster in November to protect him from selection during the Rule 5 draft. He opened last season at the Single-A level but moved quickly through the minor-league ranks and made three appearances at Triple-A to close the campaign. The young righty likely needs some more time in the minors, but he could be making his big-league debut in 2023 if he has a strong start to the season.

Rotation option in 2023?
PToronto Blue Jays
February 12, 2023
Keegan Matheson of MLB.com lists Zulueta as a potential rotation option for Toronto in 2023 if the right-hander "can stay stretched out."
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old was added to the Blue Jays' 40-man roster in November in order to protect him from the Rule 5 draft, and he could make his big-league debut this year. Zulueta began last season at the Single-A level but finished the campaign with Triple-A Buffalo, where he's likely to open the 2023 season. He could still be a factor at some point for Toronto this season since neither Mitch White nor Yusei Kikuchi -- who are competing for the No. 5 spot in the rotation -- is guaranteed to stick as a starter. However, Zulueta threw only 55.2 innings last season, so he's unlikely to be cleared for a full workload in 2023.
