Closer Watch

Miami Marlins - A.J. Ramos converted his third save opportunity Friday, but allowed one run and had to work around two hits to complete it. Regardless, he's now converted each of his last three chances, and hasn't blown an opportunity since taking over the role from Steve Cishek in mid-May. The 28-year-old owns a 1.13 ERA with 30 strikeouts in 24 innings thus far, and has shown nothing to warrant a removal from that role.

Oakland Athletics - Tyler Clippard chalked up his fifth save of the season Thursday against the Yankees, allowing a run on a walk and a double but stranding the tying run on second base. While he's been solid in the role over the course of the season, manager Bob Melvin indicated a desire to eventually move Sean Doolittle back into the spot. For now, Clippard will continue receiving

Recommended Pickup

Cameron Maybin, OF, ATL - Maybin has had a hot month of May, and particularly last couple weeks at the dish. While the 28-year-old outfielder doesn't typically display a ton of power, he cracked his fifth home run of the season Wednesday and added a pair of steals earlier in the week. On top of that, he collected a hit in 11 of the 13 games prior to Friday, and has raise his average to .252 after starting the month at .175 without a permanent role in center field. He's now taken the hold of the center field spot and has hit second in the Braves' batting order recently, which could lead to extra production moving forward.
