Jaylin Lane

The Commanders drafted Lane in the fourth round this April at No. 128 overall, adding another body to the mix for what should be an open competition for the No. 3 receiver role behind veteran starters Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel. The Virginia Tech product is already 23, but it's unwise to say he lacks upside after he lit up the 2025 Combine with a 4.34 40 (t-3rd among WRs), 134-inch broad jump (1st) and 41.5-inch vertical (t-1st) at 5-foot-10, 191. Lane had just 1,004 receiving yards in 24 games for Virginia Tech the last two years while playing in miserable offenses, but his numbers were better at Middle Tennessee State, where he put up a 69-940-5 receiving line in 2022 before transferring. He also excelled as a punt returner and occasional rushing threat at both schools, which could make him dangerous in a Kliff Kingsbury offense that loves throwing screen passes to wide receivers.
