The World Series resumes Friday with Game 3 between the Braves and Astros. With this game being played in Atlanta, neither team will have the luxury of the DH. Still, expect the Astros to find a way to get Yordan Alvarez into their starting lineup. When they played in NL parks during the regular season, they would often shift Kyle Tucker to center field and deploy Alvarez in left. Let's dig into the DraftKings Showdown contest and discuss some players to consider for your lineups.
Captain's Pick
For those new to this format, the player that is selected for the Captain's Pick in your lineup will receive 1.5 times the fantasy points. The downside is, whoever you select for that spot, you will also have to pay 1.5 times their salary.
That this game being played in Atlanta is noteworthy for Ian Anderson ($15,600 Captain's Pick). He had a 3.66 FIP and a 1.13 WHIP there during the regular season, compared to a 4.54 FIP and a 1.33 WHIP on the road. All three of his starts in the playoffs have come at home, leaving him to allow three runs and record 12 strikeouts across 12 innings.
It's been an up-and-down playoff experience for Luis Garcia ($10,800). In his first two starts, he allowed 10 runs over 3.2 innings. However, he stepped up in a major way in Game 6 of the ALCS, striking out seven batters over 5.2 scoreless innings. If he's having another off night, Freddie Freeman ($15,000 Captain's Pick) could certainly capitalize. He's had an excellent playoff run, posting a .268 ISO and a .415 wOBA.
Top Targets
Even with how well Anderson has pitched at home, Tucker ($9,200) could still be a top target. He lowered his strikeout rate to just 15.9 percent during the regular season to help propel him to a .383 wOBA. He hasn't been thrown off his game under the bright lights in the playoffs, recording a .319 ISO and a .400 wOBA.
After launching 30 home runs during the regular season, Ozzie Albies ($9,600) has yet to go deep in the playoffs. The good news is that he has at least one hit in all but one game. Also, he causes havoc atop their lineup, which has propelled him to record three stolen bases and nine runs scored.
Bargain Bats
Game 2 finally saw the first hitless game of the playoffs for Eddie Rosario ($7,200). Even with his 0-for-4 effort, he has a .489 wOBA during the playoffs. At this cheap salary, it's not difficult to make a case to add him to your lineup.
Working our way even further down the salary scale brings us to Michael Brantley ($6,400). Power is not his forte, so it should come as no surprise that he's homerless in the playoffs. However, he's batting .352 on the heels of hitting at least .300 in each of the last four seasons. If he logs a couple of hits and maybe a run scored at this salary, that could be the difference to help you come in the money.
