Cam Skattebo

23-Year-Old Running BackRB
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Running backs with 4.7 speed rarely receive starting consideration in the NFL – most of them have been moved to fullback by then – but Skattebo (5-10, 219) could prove an exceptional case that thrives as a starting NFL running back despite clearly being one of the slowest running backs in the league. Skattebo was outrageously productive at Arizona State and Sacramento State, leading the Giants to select him with the third pick in the fourth round of the 2025 draft (105th overall). If Skattebo can make it in the NFL then it would likely be due to his extremely powerful running in traffic and standout short-area explosiveness. As bad as his 40 time is, Skattebo plays a tick faster thanks to his instant, almost infallible processing and powerful burst (39.5-inch vertical, 123-inch broad jump). In other words, Skattebo can't run away from anyone but might be able to dice up defenses with chunk gains. Skattebo runs with rare hostility and instantly generates extreme anchor in the face of contact, making it difficult for defenses to trap him once he gets to the second level. Tyrone Tracy was a promising pick for the Giants in 2024 and could remain their starter, but Skattebo is the much more powerful and volume-capable player of the two. With workhorse potential and standout pass-catching ability, Skattebo has unique fantasy upside despite his 4.7 40 and the presence of Tracy. Read Past Outlooks
Taken by Giants in fourth round
RBNew York Giants
April 26, 2025
The Giants selected Skattebo in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 105th overall.
ANALYSIS
Skattebo was a two-year starter at Arizona State after spending the first two years of his collegiate career with Sacramento State. He broke out in 2024 with 1,711 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns on 293 carries while adding 45 catches for 605 yards and three scores, and he played an integral role in the Sun Devils winning the Big 12 Championship and earning a spot in the College Football Playoff. There are some questions around Skattebo's pass protection and downhill speed, but his physicality and versatility as a receiver out of the backfield should give him an opportunity to see some snaps on passing downs right out of the gate. Skattebo joins a Giants backfield headlined by 2024 fifth-round pick Tyrone Tracy and veteran Devin Singletary.

Logs top-30 visit with Cardinals
RBFree Agent
April 6, 2025
Skattebo is among the players who have scheduled Top 30 visits with the Cardinals, Bo Brack of PHNX Sports reports Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Skattebo's part of a deep 2025 running back class, but he was one of the most productive members of the group in college, racking up 2,316 scrimmage yards and 24 touchdowns for Arizona State in 2024. If he stays in the Grand Canyon State with the Cardinals, Skattebo would likely begin his career in a change-of-pace role behind veteran workhorse James Conner, who finished the 2024 season on injured reserve due to a knee injury.
