Tournament Preview

The European Tour is trying something new this week with Shot Clock Masters. It will be the first event with a shot clock on every shot. Golfers will have 40 seconds to play their shot and 50 seconds on the first approach, chip or putt in the group. If they exceed the time allowed, they will be penalized a stroke. Golfers will also be given 2 timeouts per round. The inaugural event is being contested in Austria at Diamond CC. This stop was previously the Lyoness Open, which has been at Diamond CC since 2010. This is ranked as one of the more challenging courses on tour, with fairways narrow in spots and water hazards throughout the course. This week, accuracy off the tee and with approach shots will be at a premium. After two weeks with star studded fields for the Rolex Series, this week looks significantly weaker.

DRAFTKINGS PICKS

Matthias Schwab $10,200 (16/1)

The young local favorite is having a breakout season. He has only one missed cut in stroke play events since the end of February, and has finished as high as T4. He is ranked 36th in greens in regulation on tour and 65th in SG:approach. He has also been solid off the tee this season, ranking 71st in driving accuracy. Matthias placed T43 last year at Diamond CC and was T14 in 2013.

Lorenzo Gagli $9,100 (16/1)

Lorenzo finished T14 last week in Italy with four rounds in the 60s. He has been consistent all season, with his only missed cut since mid-February coming at Open de Espana. Accuracy is the strength of his game, as he is ranked 27th in greens in regulation and 24th in driving accuracy. Gagli missed the cut last year at Diamond CC, but did finish T10 in 2013.

Andrea Pavan $8,700 (33/1)

This should be a bounceback week for Pavan after a missed cut last week in Italy. He has been on track most of the year with six top 20s this season. He is a great iron player, ranking 34th in greens in regulation and 7th in SG:approach. His putter has also been hot this year, as he is ranked 20th in SG:putting. The only concern here is his tendency to spray it a bit off the tee. Andrea's only two finishes at Diamond CC are a missed cut in 2015 and T58 in 2012.

Jinho Choi $7,600 (66/1)

Jinho is worth taking a look at when going to the lower-price tier. He's had three top tens this year and is coming off a missed cut last week in Italy, missing it by two strokes. Choi has the skills to succeed at Diamond CC, ranked 51st in driving accuracy, 63rd in greens in regulation and 95th on tour in SG:approach. This will be his first time competing at Diamond CC.
