2025 Fantasy Outlook
A 2022 third-round pick, Tolbert has seen his role grow with each passing season, taking 89 snaps in 2022, 477 snaps in 2023 and then 892 snaps last year. His per-route and per-target numbers were similar the past two seasons, but with twice as many routes in 2024 as in 2023, and scoring seven touchdowns instead of two. While CeeDee Lamb's injury absences were part of that equation, Tolbert at least proved himself capable as a No. 3/4 receiver, which figures to be his role again after the Cowboys acquired George Pickens in May. Tolbert is a clear favorite for the No. 3 WR job, with speedy return man KaVontae Turpin representing the most likely form of competition. Read Past Outlooks

Drops to No. 3 role
Tolbert likely will be the Cowboys' No. 3 wide receiver after they traded for George Pickens, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert enjoyed a breakout of sorts in 2024, his third pro season, with a 49-610-7 receiving line on 79 targets, notably scoring on five of his seven catches inside the 10-yard line. He's never earned targets at a high rate, however, and even last season he saw the ball on just 14.8 percent of routes, the sixth-lowest mark among WRs with 500-plus routes. Tolbert's potential competition for the No. 3 role is explosive return man KaVontae Turpin, who ran only 201 routes last season but was targeted on 25.9 percent of them, and Jonathan Mingo, a 2023 second-round pick of the Panthers who has yet to make an impact as a pro.

2022
As a rookie in 2022, Tolbert was a hot name in the preseason. He followed that up by catching two passes for 12 yards all season. Last year, Tolbert saw his role increase. The receiver frequently played between 23 and 30 snaps. Tolbert was also targeted between three and five times in seven games. Despite seeing opportunity, he ended the season with 268 yards. With Michael Gallup no longer with the team, Tolbert could become an every-down player. It’s reasonable to predict a third-year breakout for the receiver.

Bumps down following Pickens trade
Tolbert is projected to slot in no higher than No. 3 on the Cowboys' wide receiver depth chart following the trade acquisition of George Pickens from the Steelers on Wednesday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Tolbert, a 2022 third-round pick, made significant strides in 2024, posting a career-best 49-610-7 receiving line on 79 targets across 17 regular-season games. However, the arrival of Pickens, who the Cowboys gave up a third-round 2026 pick and fifth-round 2027 selection for, undoubtedly equates to a bump down the depth chart for Tolbert, who could nevertheless still benefit from going up against lower-caliber cornerbacks and the reduced defensive attention he should see.
