There's an old adage about games being decided in the final quarter of play, which seems to be backed up by data showing how each of the 32 teams in the NFL have performed in the fourth quarter through eight weeks this season.

With that in mind, RotoWire.com broke down how each team has performed, when it comes to 4th-quarter point differential (PF−PA) for the 2025 NFL season through Week 8 (OT excluded). Totals are cumulative across the season to date.

Who Has Excelled (and Failed) At Closing Out Games This Season?

When it comes to closing out games, it appears that finishing strong doesn't always correlate with full-game success, as the top team across the NFL in fourth quarter point differential (the Denver Broncos, at +33) are 6-2, but the next three teams (the 3-4 Houston Texans at +43, 4-4 Carolina Panthers at +41 and 1-7 New York Jets at +37) have experienced less success in 2025.

Conversely, the league's worst fourth quarter teams have largely been mired in mediocrity this fall, with the 2-5 Arizona Cardinals posting the worst point differential during the final stanza of play this season, at -47, while the equally abysmal 2-6 New York Giants (-36) are next in line.

Of the other three teams with the worst fourth quarter point differentials this year, only the Pittsburgh Steelers are above-.500, sitting at 4-3 despite being outscored by 25 points in the final quarter of play. The rest of the NFL's fourth quarter miscreants haven't been so lucky, with the 3-4-1 Dallas Cowboys (-24 points) and 2-6 Miami Dolphins (-19 points) rounding out the list through eight weeks of play.

Which NFL Teams Have The Best Point Differential in 2025?

While teams like the Broncos, Texans, Panthers and Jets have excelled in the fourth quarter, the NFL's top team when it comes to overall point differential this year has been the high-flying Indianapolis Colts, who have outscored opponents by 116 points through eight games.

Unsurprisingly, Shane Steichen's team also has the best record in the league, at 7-1, while the other teams that have the top point differentials this year are all well over the proverbial .500 mark, including the 5-3 Kansas City Chiefs (+83 points), 6-2 New England Patriots (+67 points), and the 5-2 Detroit Lions (+67 points) and Buffalo Bills (+64 points).

Looking forward, it's Andy Reid's bunch that currently has the best Super Bowl LX betting odds entering Week 9 of the NFL season, with oddsmakers from DraftKings giving the AFC West club +500 title odds, while the Lions and Green Bay Packers are tied at +700 and the Bills rank fourth, at +800.
