Anunoby is coming off the second-best fantasy campaign of his career. Playing under a head coach in Tom Thibodeau that certainly wasn't shy with his minutes, Anunoby produced averages of 18.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.5 steals, 0.9 blocks and 2.3 three-pointers across 74 games during the regular season. He also saw 36.6 minutes per night. He was a fourth-round value on a per-game basis in nine-category formats, excelling across the board. The Knicks will be a little deeper in 2025-26 with the addition of Jordan Clarkson and Guerschon Yabusele, but Anunoby's role is unlikely to change. The Knicks do have a new head coach in Mike Brown, but similar to Thibodeau, defense will remain the top priority in New York to the benefit of Anunoby. Despite being surrounded by high-usage players such as Karl-Anthony Towns, Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges, Anunoby still finds ways to get his touches. Ogugua "OG" Anunoby was born in London in 1997. Anunoby is named after his father, Ogugua, who moved his six children to Jefferson City, Missouri after receiving a professorship at the nearby Lincoln University. Anunoby got serious about basketball when he was eight year old, after his father purchased a 12 foot basketball hoop for the family's backyard. He soon graduated to the AAU and varsity basketball levels. Athletics has always been in his blood; Anunoby's mother competed in track and field at the national level in Nigeria, and his brother, Chigbo, was a defensive lineman in the NFL, most recently a member of the Cleveland Brown organization. Anunoby turned into a superstar at Jefferson City High School, where he averaged 21.3 points, 9.9 rebounds and 3.4 blocks per game as a junior, helping the Jayhawks to a 15-12 record. He averaged 19.1 points and 8.6 rebounds per game as a senior, and was named a finalist for Missouri Mr. Basketball. OG Anunoby spent two years at Indiana, from 2015 to 2017, appearing in 34 games over the course of his freshman season (2015-16) -- he averaged 4.9 points, and 2.6 rebounds per game as he came off the bench for all 34 games during his first year with the Hoosiers. Anunoby scored a season-high 14 points (6-7 FG) in a win over Chattanooga in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Things changed the next year, and Anunoby improved in nearly every statistical category. He started 10 games, averaging 11.1 points and 5.4 boards per game before his season was cut short by a knee injury. In sixteen games that year, he added 21 steals and another 21 blocked shots. Anunoby left Indiana for the NBA after his sophomore season, and was selected by the Toronto Raptors with the 23rd pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

Anunoby has been ruled out for the remainder of Friday's game against the Heat due to a left hamstring strain.

ANALYSIS
Anunoby went back to the locker room in the first quarter and was quickly ruled out with a strained hamstring. With the Knicks already without Jalen Brunson (ankle), Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns are likely to shoulder most of the offensive load, while Anunoby's absence could mean more opportunities for Landry Shamet, Josh Hart and Jordan Clarkson. Anunoby's next chance to play will come Friday against Miami.

The Knicks made one of the biggest splashes at last year's trade deadline when they acquired Anunoby. It was a match made in heaven for Tom Thibodeau, who loves to play his guys 40 minutes a night while expecting elite defense throughout that lofty workload. That's the type of player Anunoby has been throughout his career, playing over 34 minutes a night across the last three seasons. With that said, Anunoby had his worst averages of those three years last season, posting 14.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.4 steals, 0.7 steals and 2.0 threes. Those are solid averages, but it's a bit off of his 17.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.7 steals, 0.6 blocks and 2.3 threes in the two years prior. The slight dropoff is no surprise when looking at the construction of this roster, and it gets even more problematic with Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns joining the team. That will likely leave Anunoby with crumbs in this offense, but he should still play 35 minutes and be one of the best defenders in the NBA. All of that makes Anunoby a tough sell in fantasy.

After being named in trade talks all offseason, highly coveted for his outstanding defensive abilities, Anunoby is set to return for his seventh season with the Raptors. He has shown improvement year over year but took a slight step back in points, rebounds and assists last season, all while setting a career-high with 1.9 steals per game and tying his career high of 0.7 blocks. Anunoby also tied a career high with 2.5 free throws per outing and shot a career-best 83.8 percent from the foul line. He played in 67 games, missing a couple of weeks in late January and early February with a wrist injury. Prior to the injury, he had a 15-game stretch where he averaged 22.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 0.8 blocks, including seven games with more than 25 points and a season-high 32 on two occasions. Anunoby also contributed at a high level after returning from injury, including a 31-point effort on 12-for-14 shooting against the Lakers on March 10th. Going forward, there will be more shots up for grabs in the Raptors' offense since parting ways with Fred VanVleet in the offseason. A fair share of the opportunity should come to Anunoby, possibly boosting his scoring numbers. At the very least, Anunoby is primed to continue producing at a good level across the board, and his defensive prowess will help keep him on the court through any scoring slumps.

When he was on the floor, Anunoby was a unique fantasy option. He contributed in multiple categories, averaging 17.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.5 steals and 2.4 three-pointers per game. He also played a ton, averaging 36 minutes per game. However, it wasn't all positive for him. He shot a career-low 44.3 percent from the field, which included him shooting 36.3 percent from behind the arc. That was a disappointment after he shot 48.0 percent from the field and 39.8 percent from behind the arc the season prior. Also, injuries limited him to just 48 games, marking the second straight season in which he failed to play at least 50 games. The Raptors have a lot of depth in their frontcourt, especially after adding Otto Porter while retaining Chris Boucher and Thaddeus Young. With that being said, they were also deep last season and that didn't stop Anunoby from having a massive workload. He is one of the core players that the team plans to build around. If he can stay healthy, his ability to contribute on both ends of the floor will make him extremely valuable in fantasy.

Anunoby has gradually improved during each of his four seasons in the Association. Last season, the Indiana product posted career-bests in per game points (15.9), rebounds (5.5), steals (1.5) and three-pointers (2.4) over a career-high 33.3 minutes per game. Anunoby started all 43 games in which he appeared last season, but a left calf injury forced him to miss 10 games starting in late January, plus the last eight games of the season. He's expected to be healthy in time for training camp and is presumably happy to finally play home games in Toronto instead of Tampa Bay. His frontcourt mate, Pascal Siakam, has been included in a number of rebuilding trade rumors. Should such a deal occur, expectations would soar for Anunoby, who would then be paired with rookie Scottie Barnes. But it's fair to wonder how much growth is left in the 24-year-old's future. That said, his shooting percentages of 48.0 percent from the field and 39.8 percent from behind the arc suggest head coach Nick Nurse should design a few more plays for Anunoby. This appears to be a roster in flux, blurring Anunoby's status heading into the 2021-22 season.

Following a sophomore 2018-19 campaign during which he logged just six starts among his 67 appearances, Anunoby was in the first unit for 68 of a possible 69 games during the shortened 2019-20 regular season. The versatile third-year pro responded with career bests in points (10.6), rebounds (5.3), assists (1.6) and steals (1.4) while also setting new high-water marks in overall shooting percentage (50.5) and three-point shooting percentage (39.0). Anunoby's defensive prowess was a significant asset to a Raptors team that exceeded expectations before falling to the Boston Celtics in a memorable seven-game semifinal-round slugfest. Anunoby single-handedly shifted the dynamic of the series with a buzzer-beating three-pointer in Game 3 that prevented Toronto from falling into a likely insurmountable 3-0 hole. Anunoby could see his offensive profile continue to rise in the 2020-21 season with the departure of both Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol. The former Hoosier averaged a career-high 8.2 field-goal attempts per game in his third campaign and finished it with some momentum on that end of the floor. Over 17 seeding and postseason games in the Orlando bubble, Anunoby averaged 10.2 points on 46.4 percent shooting, including an impressive 44.4 percent success rate from behind the arc.

Anunoby averaged 7.0 points and 2.9 rebounds for Toronto last season, logging 20.2 minutes per night across 62 contests. He also managed 1.0 combined blocks/steals and 1.0 threes per night, draining that many threes for the second straight season. Though he reached new career highs in most counting stats, his field goal percentage (45.2) and three-point percentage (33.2) were significantly lower in 2018-19 than in 2017-18 as a rookie. His role remained virtually unchanged in his second year, losing playing time and production to Kawhi Leonard, Pascal Siakam and Serge Ibaka. But Anunoby could be in for a boost in minutes in 2019. With Leonard gone, Anunoby has a real chance to be the Raptors' starting small forward. Anunoby should be relied upon for his solid defense and potential as a three-point shooter, though his place in the rotation is yet unclear. He's worth a chance as a late-round pickup as a player likely to see starters' minutes on a new-look, rebuilding Toronto team.

Despite being a rookie on a playoff team, Anunoby picked up 62 starts in the 74 games he played in last season. However, defense was his main calling card and that didn't translate to reliable Fantasy stats most nights. Anunoby averaged just 5.9 points and 2.5 rebounds across 20.0 minutes, while shooting 47.1 percent from the field. Despite the lack of coveted cross-category production, Anunoby did at least show some potential as a 3-and-D player. He hit 1.0 three-pointer per game, while shooting a respectable 37.1 percent from deep. After playing the bulk of his minutes at small forward as a rookie, the expectation is that Anunoby spends more time as a small-ball power forward in 2018-19, especially following the addition of superstar Kawhi Leonard. The Raptors are still considering their options in regards to a starting five, but there's been rumblings that either Anunoby or Serge Ibaka could shift into a bench role, with the other guy starting at the four. Either way, Leonard's addition will likely keep Anunoby from making any sort of significant leap with his Fantasy value and he'll continue to be a player that provides more real life value due to his defensive capabilities.

Anunoby opted to leave for the NBA early after just his sophomore year at Indiana, which was especially surprising considering the 6-foot-8 forward had suffered a torn ACL in January, thus ending his season early. Prior to the injury, Anunoby had played in 16 games for the Hoosiers, averaging 11.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists across 25.1 minutes. However, his decision to leave early eventually paid off, with the Raptors taking a chance on his upside with the 23rd overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. Anunoby has demonstrated the potential to be an elite defender at the next level, but he'll need to work on his the ability to create his own offense and become a more consistent shooter. In his final season at Indiana, Anunoby went a respectable 56 percent from the field, but was only a 31 percent shooter from deep and struggled to just 56 percent from the free-throw line. That leaves plenty to be desired in terms of his ability to stretch the floor and convert on freebies, which could ultimately end up restricting his court time during his rookie season. Anunoby has plenty of development ahead of him this season and the the torn ACL remains an issue as well. He's yet to be given any sort of timetable for a return, which makes it unclear if he'll be ready by the start of the regular season. The Raptors brought in C.J. Miles this offseason to compete with Norman Powell for rights to the starting small forward role, so once healthy, it seems likely that Anunoby would be the next option behind the aforementioned two players. That should keep his Fantasy impact limited, barring any other injuries higher up on the depth chart.
