2025 Fantasy Outlook
Nichushkin needed a drama-free season in 2025-26, and that's what he got when healthy. His suspension from the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program delayed his debut to November, but he jumped right into the lineup and performed well until a lower-body injury cost him nearly two months in January and February. The winger racked up 21 goals and 34 points in just 43 regular-season contests, which would have been enough for a career high in points had he not missed half the year. However, fantasy managers should know by now that Nichushkin is a virtual lock to miss noticeable time every year -- he's been out of action for at least 20 games in four straight seasons. He's a clear high-risk, high-reward player, especially when he gets top-line usage, though the Avalanche have been known to shuffle wingers in the top six regularly. Read Past Outlooks
Ready to rock
Nichushkin (lower body) will return to the lineup against Vancouver on Tuesday, Aarif Deen of Colorado Hockey Now reports.
ANALYSIS
Following an eight-game absence, Nichushkin will probably occupy a middle-six role. He has produced five goals, 12 points, 41 shots on net and 16 hits in 17 appearances this season.

Nichushkin generated career highs in 2023-24 with 28 goals and 53 points despite being limited to 54 appearances. He missed 22 games from mid-January to early March after entering into the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program. Before Game 4 of Colorado's second-round playoff series versus Dallas, Nichushkin was placed in Stage 3 of the program for a violation of the treatment plan and suspended for at least six months. He won't be eligible to apply for reinstatement until November, however, it's unclear when Nichushkin will be available for his season debut. As such, he probably won't be drafted in the majority of fantasy leagues. Still, he could be a worthwhile gamble to select late in drafts because of his offensive abilities and the team's offensive upside. Overall, Nichushkin is a high-risk, high-reward option for 2024-25 and will probably start the season on multiple reserve lists.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could return Tuesday
Head coach Jared Bednar said Monday that Nichushkin, who has missed the last eight games due to a lower-body injury, is a possibility for Tuesday's game against the Canucks, Meghan Angley of Guerilla Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
While Nichushkin appears to be closing in on a return, Bednar also thought that the 30-year-old could return Saturday against the Canadiens before he was ultimately ruled out. Nichushkin will presumably be monitored by the team's medical staff in the hours leading up to Tuesday's puck drop, and it's possible that the Avalanche label him a game-time decision against Vancouver.
