This week's game brings us the San Francisco 49ers heading into Minnesota to take on the Vikings as they come off a tough first loss of the season to the Cleveland Browns. Sunday night we saw the other team that lost for the first time last week, the Philadelphia Eagles, rebound at home against a good Dolphins football team. Minnesota (2-4) has been a tad unlucky this season losing all four of its games by a touchdown or less.
Minnesota Vikings Team Over 17.5 Points +102 (DraftKings)
While it's a really small sample, the 49ers have allowed their opponent to go over this mark in two of the three games they've had on the road (Browns, Rams). Meanwhile the Vikings have gone over this mark in two of their three homes games (Chiefs, Chargers) and barely missed the over in the third game with 17 against Tampa. Weather won't be a concern and the 49ers rank only 17th against opposing wide receivers and 13th against opposing running backs. This prop is -115 for the same number on other sites so there's some value betting it on DraftKings.
Elijah Mitchell Anytime Touchdown +120 (DraftKings)
I'd grab this before any news breaks today but it does appear that Christian McCaffrey will suit up tonight for the 49ers. That being said, it's unlikely he takes on a full workload and there's no guarantee he doesn't aggravate his injury and have to leave the game. We've seen the backfields for the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams be very unpredictable over the last couple of weeks and could see the same thing tonight for San Francisco. Mitchell is a veteran of the 49ers system with this being his third year in the system and I have to think he's the preferred option over Jordan Mason despite the latter's production last week vs. Mitchell's. This line is actually -185 on another prominent site so either there is some really good value here or DraftKings knows something we don't.
George Kittle Over 47.5 Receiving Yards -113 (FanDuel)
Kittle has games of 2-1-1 (last week), 1-1-9 (Cardinals) and 6-3-19 (Steelers) this season. What do all three of those matchups have in common? They all rank in the top-four for teams defending the opposing team's tight end. In Kittle's other three matchups he's gone over this mark in two of those games and it doesn't hurt that Deebo Samuel has already been ruled out for Monday night's contest. The Vikings rank 17th against opposing tight ends so this is a good matchup for Kittle.
Jauan Jennings +470 (FanDuel), Ray-Ray McCloud +550 (DraftKings) Anytime Touchdown
This is a fun bet I'd only sprinkle a little on. I feel like the absence of Deebo will give one of these guys an opportunity to score tonight, especially with Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk commanding a lot of attention. The Vikings have been horrible against opposing wide receivers, ranking 31st in the league so this matchup is about as good as you can get. Again, I wouldn't go nuts here but this seems like a fun wager to have and I'd hedge and take both given the nice odds.
