DraftKings CFL DFS Picks: Week 14 Value Plays

DraftKings CFL DFS Picks: Week 14 Value Plays

This article is part of our DraftKings CFL DFS Picks series.

Quarterback

Matt Nichols, WPG vs. OTT ($10,600): Nichols is averaging 305.0 yards per game in five home contests, and he put up 20.66 fantasy points on the strength of a 319-yard passing performance against this same Redblacks squad back in Week 7. He also scored between 23.56 and 30.9 fantasy points in the last four games and is rested due to coming off a bye week. While the Redblacks have been tougher in the secondary as the season has unfolded, Nichols always has an outstanding outlet option in RB Andrew Harris to lean on when his receivers aren't open downfield.

Jonathon Jennings, BC vs. HAM ($9,300): Even as putrid as Jennings' performance was against the Stampeders in Week 13 (167 yards, zero touchdowns, three interceptions), he makes for a tournament option in Week 14 at home against the most vulnerable defense in the CFL. The Tiger-Cats are still allowing the most passing yards (347.4) and highest completion percentage (72.8) in the league, while also posting a CFL-low five interceptions. Jennings has also averaged a solid 18.0 fantasy points in three home contests and always brings some rushing upside to the table.

Jeremiah Masoli, HAM at BC ($8,600): Masoli has done nothing but improve in each of his first three games as a starter, topping out at 24.32 fantasy points in Week 13 against the Roughriders. As with Jennings, he has significant rushing upside, and notably tallied 73 and 62 yards on the ground, respectively, in the last two games. The Lions are also allowing 301.7 passing yards per contest and have yielded a CFL-high 26 completions of more than 30 yards.

Running Back

Andrew Harris, WPG vs. OTT ($8,200): Harris is back at his usual spot as the top choice at running back, and the fact he's at home only furthers his prospects. He's averaged 24.9 fantasy points at Investors Group Field, while the Redblacks have allowed opposing running backs 5.5 yards per carry, second-highest in the CFL. As customary, Harris also carries considerable upside as a receiver and has between four and 10 receptions in his last four games. With the Redblacks' ongoing improvement in the secondary, Harris could also serve as a potentially valuable target for Matt Nichols on Friday.

William Powell, OTT at WPG ($7,400): Powell was spectacular while compiling 144 yards on 25 carries in Week 13 against the Alouettes, leading to 18.8 fantasy points. With the Redblacks down to Ryan Lindley at quarterback in Week 14, Powell could certainly see another sizable workload. The Bombers are allowing a generous 5.2 yards per rush and 12 rushing touchdowns as well, along with nine rushes of greater than 20 yards, second-highest in the CFL.

James Wilder, Jr., TOR vs. MTL ($6,300): As impressive as Powell was in Week 13, Wilder one-upped him with 190 yards rushing and 67 receiving yards. The out-of-nowhere effort yielded a massive 41.7 fantasy points, and Wilder could be primed for another big haul in Week 14. The Alouettes have allowed 100.3 rushing yards, second-most in the CFL, along with eight rushing touchdowns. Veteran back Brandon Whitaker also remains questionable for Saturday's contest, potentially leaving Wilder with essentially all the backfield touches in a plus matchup.

Tyrell Sutton, MTL at TOR ($5,800): Sutton makes for a nice cost-savings option after bouncing back in Week 13 with a 70-yard rushing effort that helped lead to 12.8 fantasy points. He's also averaged just under 11.0 fantasy points in two games against the Argonauts this season and retains a consistent role in the passing game. Moreover, he could play a bigger role than usual as an outlet option if Drew Willy takes over for Darian Durant behind center in Week 14.

Wide Receiver/Slotback

S.J. Green, TOR vs. MTL ($9,300): Green lit up the Alouettes for 38.5 fantasy points in a Week 9 home matchup and has already eclipsed 20 fantasy points on five occasions overall in 2017. The Als allow a robust 303.4 passing yards per game, a 72.2 completion percentage and a CFL-high 345 completions, along with 21 passing touchdowns. Green remains Ricky Ray's most trusted receiving option in the Argos' high-powered passing game, making him a top-end receiving option each week.

Bryan Burnham, BC vs. HAM ($8,400): Burnham has scored over 20 fantasy points in three of his past four games and is averaging 17.7 fantasy points in four home contests while averaging 20.2 yards per catch. The Tiger-Cats' vulnerabilities in the secondary were discussed in Jonathon Jennings' entry, and they've also allowed a CFL-high 24 touchdowns through the air in addition to the previous numbers cited.

Diontae Spencer, OTT at WPG ($8,300): Spencer is a solid cash or tournament play regardless of who's behind center for the Redblacks due to his involvement on special teams. He's scored between 21.25 and 26.75 fantasy points in the last four contests and has notched at least six receptions over the last five games overall. Winnipeg has notably yielded 22 touchdowns through the air and 338.4 passing yards per contest, along with a CFL-high 24.5 yards per kickoff return and 10.3 yards per punt return.

Jalen Saunders, HAM at BC ($6,600): Saunders exploded for a season-high 31.8 fantasy points in Week 13 against the Roughriders and looks poised to play a major role in the offense for the balance of the season. He's shown a good rapport with Jeremiah Masoli in what has been an improving Tiger-Cats passing game, and the Lions have notably allowed 18 touchdowns through the air on the season.

Reggie Begelton, CGY at SSK ($3,100): Begelton was a pleasant surprise in Week 13 with 15.0 fantasy points against the Lions, and he'd also flashed with a 28-yard reception back in Week 9. The Roughriders check in allowing the third-most touchdowns through the air (21) and completions of over 30 yards (22), making Begelton an appealing punt play for tournaments.

Team Defense

Toronto Argonauts vs. Montreal Alouettes ($4,800): The Argos are averaging 12.7 fantasy points over six home games. They also compiled 23.0 fantasy points in a Week 9 home matchup against this same Montreal squad and have a CFL-high 34 sacks, while the Alouettes will start one of two relatively inefficient quarterback options in Darian Durant or Drew Willy, which could certainly add to the 18 turnovers they've already committed.
