Quarterback
Kevin Glenn, SSK at HAM ($10,400): Glenn appears to be on track to play in the Week 13 matchup, as he's listed as the No. 1 quarterback on the depth chart despite officially being designated a game-time call due to a hand injury. The veteran already racked up a season-best 38.4 fantasy points against this same Tiger-Cats squad back in Week 3, a unit that continues to give up the most passing yards (343.3) and points (35.4) in the CFL and that has recorded just five interceptions. Glenn is third in the league with 21 touchdown passes and has been especially clicking with his top two targets, Naaman Roosevelt and Duron Carter, in recent weeks.
Darian Durant, MTL vs. OTT ($9,400): The Redblacks have been a vulnerable secondary in their own right, allowing 302.3 passing yards per game. Durant struggled against this same unit just two weeks ago, but he lit them up for 26.08 fantasy points on the strength of a season-best 452-yard passing day in Week 5. He also bounced back from his aforementioned stumble in Week 11 by compiling 25.92 fantasy points in Week 12 against the Blue Bombers, a game in which he also demonstrated his rushing upside by going over the 30-yard mark on the ground for the second time in the last three contests and scoring his first rushing touchdown of the season. Notably, the Redblacks are coming off a week in which they allowed 73 yards on the ground to another mobile signal caller, the Tiger-Cats' Jeremiah Masoli.
Jeremiah Masoli, HAM vs. SSK ($8,100): Masoli has provided a spark to the Tiger-Cats offense since taking over two games ago, leading Hamilton to its first two wins of the season while posting a respectable 12.86 and 16.54 fantasy points, respectively. He also flashed his considerable rushing upside in the Week 12 battle with the Redblacks, rushing for 73 yards on seven carries. The Roughriders have been just under middle-of-the-pack in passing yards allowed (282.2) per game and allow a robust 92.1 on the ground, third-most in the CFL.
Running Back
Mossis Madu, Jr., OTT at MTL ($7,200): The Alouettes check in allowing just one-tenth of a yard less on the ground (94.8) than the league-worst Tiger-Cats defense, while Madu has been very impressive in a starting role the last three weeks. He's scored between 15.6 and 25.2 fantasy points in that trio of contests, in part due to his significant involvement in the passing game (12 receptions for 137 yards and a touchdown over that span). His ability to remain involved regardless of game flow and the fact that the Als defense has allowed no less than 4.6 yards per carry to starting running backs since Week 8 make him worth the investment.
Brandon Whitaker, TOR vs. EDM ($6,200): Whitaker's involvement on the ground tends to fluctuate, but he retains a consistent role as a pass-catching back week-to-week, especially lately. Whitaker has logged at least four receptions in three of the last four games, and his only three double-digit fantasy-point efforts have come during that span as well. The Eskimos also tend to make life difficult on opposing quarterbacks (253.8 passing yards allowed per game, second-fewest in CFL), funneling more action towards the running game and short outlet passes out of the backfield.
C.J. Gable, HAM vs. SSK ($6,100): Gable has played an important part in the Tiger-Cats' offensive awakening in the last two games, scoring 15.85 and 25.2 fantasy points, respectively. Those two totals are his best of the season, and Jeremiah Masoli's presence as a running threat from the quarterback position may be playing a part in helping clear up some running lanes for Gable. The Roughriders also allow the third-most rushing yards per contest (92.1) in the CFL, while Gable's 5.8 yards per rush is second only to the Lions' Jeremiah Johnson for running backs with at least 30 carries.
Chris Rainey, BC at CGY ($5,700) : Rainey typically offers a safe fantasy floor due to his involvement in multiple phases, as evidenced by the fact that he's scored double-digit fantasy points in all but one game this season and leads the CFL in combined yards (1,837). He's hit the century mark in return yards in all but two contests as well, and he racked up 23.1 fantasy points against this same Stampeders squad in Week 9. Rainey equaled his season high with five receptions in that contest, and given Calgary's stingy pass defense (268.6 passing yards per game allowed), plenty of underneath throws that are right in Rainey's wheelhouse may be in the game plan once again in Week 13.
Wide Receiver/Slotback
Duron Carter, SSK vs. HAM ($8,900): Just like last week, Carter's teammate Naaman Roosevelt ($9,100) is also a viable play, but Carter continues to rack up the touchdowns and also saves you a couple of hundred dollars. Following a two-reception, 96-yard effort in Week 12 that also included a receiving score, Carter has at least one touchdown in six straight games. He's put in some work as a punt returner as well during the last two weeks, giving him a bit of extra upside. The Tiger-Cats have also given up the most passing yards per game in the CFL (343.3) and have allowed a league-high 65.8 percent success rate in the red zone, furthering Carter's already strong case.
Diontae Spencer, OTT at MTL ($7,700): Spencer ranks second only to Rainey in combined yards (1,677) in the CFL and has scored over 20 fantasy points in three straight weeks. He's particularly stepped it up as a receiver in recent weeks, posting no less than six receptions in three of the past four games. His involvement as both a punt and kick returner virtually guarantee a safe fantasy floor each week, while his matchup against an Alouettes secondary that allows 297.1 passing yards per game and that's recorded a CFL-low four interceptions are also points in his favor.
B.J. Cunningham, MTL vs. OTT ($7,500): Cunningham has been a consistent presence in the Alouettes passing attack the majority of the season, scoring between 17.3 and 25.9 fantasy points in seven contests. He vaulted over the century mark in receiving yards for the third time this season with a 105-yard receiving day in Week 12 and has averaged over 20 yards per reception in the last two games. One of those was the Week 11 contest against this same Redblacks secondary, against which he's totaled nine catches for 190 yards in two overall meetings this season.
Derel Walker, EDM at TOR ($4,000): Walker returned to the CFL with a bang last week after a summer stint with the NFL, checking in as Mike Reilly's second-leading receiver (eight receptions, 93 yards) in an offensive explosion against the Stamps. That performance netted 23.5 fantasy points, a spectacular return on Walker's still significantly depressed price. Although the Argonauts check in as the stingiest secondary in the CFL (246.0 yards per game), his bargain-basement cost, established rapport with Reilly and the quarterback's prolific arm make Walker an excellent punt play if you need to spend up elsewhere.
Team Defense
Calgary Stampeders vs. BC Lions ($5,000): The Stampeders gave up a boatload of yards to the Eskimos in Week 12 but still surrendered just 22 points, clamping down just enough to secure the victory. They get a much better matchup this week, as they've averaged 15.3 fantasy points at home, scoring five defensive touchdowns while allowing a miserly 13.8 points per contest. They're second only to the Argos with 29 sacks and to the Blue Bombers with 13 interceptions. They also held this same Lions squad to just 275 total yards while recording a pair of interceptions and sacks apiece in road matchup in Week 9, while BC has committed a league-high 24 turnovers on the season.
