FanDuel NBA: Friday Value Plays

FanDuel NBA: Friday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NBA series.

Point Guard

Ish Smith, $6,700 - The price increase from a month ago coupled with coming off of a dud game should bring down Smith's ownership tonight. However, he's in a nice spot to bounce back despite having volatile fantasy stats as of late. The Wizards give up the 10th most fantasy points to opposing point guards and the ceiling for Smith is higher than most in this price range. Over his last 10 games he has games of 38 or more fantasy points and only one game below 21 fantasy points.

Derrick Rose, $6,200 - By now everyone knows that rostering Rose is a major injury risk give his history over the last few seasons. That being said, he's been a very solid play for the Bulls lately. Taking out a dud against Miami where he left early due to a hamstring injury, Rose has hit at least 23 fantasy points in each of his last 10 games. He's been averaging almost 18 points per game over that span and can be counted on to contribute 8-12 assists and steals as well. Emmanuel Mudiay and the Nuggets are giving up the fifth most fantasy points to opposing point guards helping Rose's propects.

Shooting Guard

Marco Belinelli, $4,000 - The worm may have turned in Sacramento and Ben McLemore may have permanently lost his starting shooting guard job. For the second game Belinelli started and played 36 minutes, the first without McLemore available and the second with Ben back in the lineup. An outstanding free throw shooter, Belinelli is also excellent behind the arc with a career three-point mark of over 38 percent. He should see plenty of open looks from long range with teams clogging up the middle to slow down DeMarcus Cousins.

Jamal Crawford, $4,700 - First, if Kemba Walker sits out again with a sore knee by all means fire up Jeremy Lin for $5,000. It seems a bit lazy to profile him given such a possibly obvious scenario so let's talk about Crawford. He's been on a hot streak lately averaging just over 20 real points over his last four contests. Crawford has games of 32.3 and 34.7 fantasy points over his last two and gets a plus matchup against the Orlando Magic. While Orlando has been decent against opposing point guards Crawford should have a plus matchup against their second team as he's the sixth man off the bench.

Small Forward

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, $5,800 - MKG has hit the ground running since returning from injury and has been a solid fantasy asset. He's averaged over a double-double in his three games since returning and will continue to rack up the rebounds while the Bobcats run out a weak frontcourt. Kidd-Gilchrist has logged heavy minutes and that playing time should be secure even with the return of Nicolas Batum and Kemba Walker.

Robert Covington, $5,000 - It seems odd to recommend two 76ers in this space but there are several reasons why to go back to the well with Covington tonight. The Wizards rank dead last this season in giving up points to opposing small forwards and Covington's bad last game appears to be an anomaly. Before Wednesday's dud he had a long line of games with at least 20 fantasy points and was consistently at 5X his value for seven of his last eight games. Otto Porter is coming off an injury and again, has been a good target to attack.

Power Forward

Taj Gibson, $5,300 - The price here still hasn't caught up to the production and without Nikola Mirotic the Bulls are going to need Gibson to keep playing 30-plus minutes per game. Gibson has at least 24 fantasy points in five of his last six contests and the Nuggets present an above average matchup giving up the third-most fantasy points to opposing power forwards. Look for Gibson to get a decent floor once again even though there is a limited ceiling.

Myles Turner, $5,600 - This may be grabbing the low-hanging fruit but it took a strong fourth quarter effort for Turner to get close to value Wednesday night. Still, he's score 21 or more fantasy points in his last nine contests and has five of those in the 30-plus range. The matchup against Paul Millsap may seem daunting but Turner just had a 28.7 fantasy point effort against him while playing only 26 minutes. He should see an increase in minutes from that game and the other night's effort will have his ownership much lower than two nights ago.

Center

Marcin Gortat, $6,700 - Granted this is not a cheap price but he's still a value. Gortat has been as consistent as they come scoring over 21 fantasy points in each of his last nine contests. This is the ideal matchup against Philadelphia given that they've allowed the third most fantasy points to opposing centers. This is the most solid play given the price and matchup in any cash game.
