2025 Fantasy Outlook
Following another modest season, Kuminga's immediate future was uncertain all offseason, but he signed an extension at the beginning of training camp. Kuminga will likely have to swallow his pride and make the most of whatever role he can land in the Bay. He closed the 2024-25 season with averages of 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 1.0 three-pointers across 47 games played. He fell out of favor on more than one occasion, hence the persistent trade rumors. With that said, He is a proven scorer and should at least be a regular piece of the rotation, even on a team that seemingly views him as expendable. Look for him to play a similar role, should talks fail to eventuate, typically playing around 20 minutes. Read Past Outlooks
Won't return Thursday
Kuminga has been ruled out for the remainder of Thursday's game against the Mavericks due to left knee soreness. He'll end the night with 10 points (3-3 FG, 4-4 FT), one rebound, two assists and two steals in nine minutes.
ANALYSIS
Kuminga appeared to twist his ankle and hyperextend his knee on a play during the first half, per Anthony Slater of ESPN.com, and the team has elected to shut him down for the rest of the night. The injuries don't appear to be overly serious, but he's set for an MRI on Friday to ensure there isn't further damage, per Slater.

Kuminga looked out of control at times early in his career, but he was a different player last season. Despite getting off to a slow start, Kuminga averaged 18.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 0.8 steals, 0.7 steals and 0.7 threes on 54 percent shooting from January 1 through the end of 2023-24. That's 44 games of excellent play, and he did that while mixing and matching his role. It remains to be seen if Kuminga will be a reserve player this season, but he might be starting since Klay Thompson is now with the Magic. Golden State also added Buddy Hield, Kyle Anderson and De'Anthony Melton during the offseason, which is troublesome since Brandin Podziemski and Trayce Jackson-Davis are on the rise as well. We didn't even mention how veterans like Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins need their minutes, making this one of the toughest teams to evaluate. That's probably too many cooks in the kitchen for Kuminga to play 30-35 minutes as a starter, but that would be a frustrating development with how special this 21-year-old forward looked at times last season. Given his upside, fantasy managers may have to reach in drafts to acquire Kuminga's services this season, but optimists could be rewarded if he finally gets the leading role he's been after since his rookie campaign.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Kerr open to return to rotation
Kuminga has been out of the Warriors' rotation since Dec. 6, but the fifth-year pro could see more playing time moving forward after Jimmy Butler tore his ACL during Monday's 135-112 win over the Heat, Sam Amick and Nick Friedell of The Athletic posit.
ANALYSIS
Kuminga signed a two-year, $48.5 million contract with the Warriors in September that includes a team option for the 2026-27 season. He officially requested his trade out of Golden State last Thursday after playing just nine minutes since Dec. 6, but following Butler's season-ending injury, head coach Steve Kerr relayed to reporters after Monday night's game that he would be open to bringing Kuminga back into the fold. Moses Moody, Pat Spencer, Buddy Hield and Gary Payton are also in line to take on expanded roles in Butler's absence.
