FanDuel NBA: Friday Value Plays

FanDuel NBA: Friday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NBA series.

Point Guard
Raymond Felton, $3,800
- There are two great values at point guard tonight below $4,000 that will allow owners to load up at the other positions. Felton has been inserted into the starting lineup and been able to resurrect his career with the Mavericks. He's scored 19.9, 26.5, 20.1, 18.3 and 22.8 fantasy points over his five contests showing the ability to score five times his value on a consistent basis. This should be a game with a fast pace helping the fantasy prospects for both teams.

Patrick Beverley, $3,900 - It's a little puzzling as to why the price has stayed so low for Beverley unless his absence to start the season is the reason why. He's played steady minutes for the Rockets with his lowest total being 26 over his last four games. Beverley is never going to go off for 40 points but his ability to rack up points consistently in the blocks and steals categories to go along with a few marks in the other categories have him consistently in the 20 fantasy point range. Dallas and in particular Raymond Felton is a good target for any opposing point guard.

Shooting Guard
J.R. Smith, $5,400
- Truth be told, there aren't really any cheaper value plays at the position tonight. Smith has been given a steady dose of minutes every game playing at least 36 minutes in eight of his last nine games. Being on the floor for that amount of time and with J.R.'s skill set has him hitting 21.9 fantasy points in eight of those same nine games. The one game - a 31-minute, 17.1 fantasy point performance at Charlotte seems like a safe anomaly to throw out and shouldn't have killed anyone that night given the price point. He should have another solid floor tonight against the Pelicans.

Kobe Bryant, $6,900 - This could be crazy talk but it appears Kobe might have turned the corner since announcing his retirement. He's scored 37.9 and 28 fantasy points over his last two games and has hit 23.3 fantasy points in six of his last seven games. The outlier there was a blowout loss to the Warriors and Kobe has logged decent minutes with at least 31 minutes in every other one of those games. A good strategy may be to go cheap with the two point guards listed and then the Eric Bledsoe/James Harden combo but Bryant and J.R. are nice contrarian plays.

Small Forward
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, $4,200
- RHJ has been given a starting role and the results have been mixed but with more good than bad. He's been an elite rebounder for a small forward with at least seven in five of his last six games. His ability to put up mediocre points along with a few steals and blocks along with his coach's confidence sets a nice floor for him at this price.

Thabo Sefolosha, $4,400 - Sefolosha is another player capable of filling up the fantasy stats and has been getting consistent minutes for the Knicks as of late. Outside of a dud against a tough Spurs team, Sefolosha has scored 28.5, 25.6, 18.2, 38.9 and 22.5 fantasy points over his last five games. The Lakers are a good team to target in fantasy and the only red flag here is the possibility of a blowout and therefore a minutes limit for Thabo.

Power Forward
Thaddeus Young, $6,600
- Young is coming off a rough game against Phoenix that saw him produce a 10-game low 13.8 fantasy points. However, this was likely an off game for him and he should be back to putting up 30-plus fantasy points tonight. Young is a double-double threat on a nightly basis and is shooting a three-year best 51.9 percent from the field. This should be a competitive game considering the proximity of both teams and multiple players on each side are in play.

Kristaps Porzingis, $7,300 - The price still doesn't seem to fit the production as Porzingis seems like a player to be over $8,000 in the near future. He's hit 38, 41.1, 27.6, 35.3, 43.3 and 54.8 fantasy points over his last six contests and even for a player at this price 27.6 is a very nic e floor. "Staps" has the ability to be a walking double-double as well as lead the game in blocks making him in play for both cash and tournament games.

Center
Clint Capela, $4,700
- Many will look at Capela's last game in which he only managed 10.8 fantasy points. However, that game was noteworthy as he got himself in foul trouble against Anthony Davis and the Pelicans in what appears to be a game to throw out. Also, Dwight Howard is scheduled to sit this one out which should open up a plethora of minutes for Capela. He scored 24.5, 38.2 and 27 fantasy points in the previous three games before Wednesday's dud and should get back to the level tonight.
