This article is part of our MLB Observations series.
On Easter Sunday afternoon (and evening in Portugal), Greg Ambrosius, Chris Liss and I got together and drafted our All-Time Brewers team. We quickly learned two things - the list of accomplished pitchers on the Brewers was pretty thin, and that Greg really loved his 70's and 80's era Brewers. Oh, and Liss actually drafted Dave Bush as one of his pitchers.
Reminders:
- You only get the players from the time they were on the Brewers. So you could theoretically take Gary Sheffield, but it would be a bad pick.
- You only get the players at the positions that they played with the Brewers. So in this case, Liss was saved from himself when he tried to take Sheffield, because he only had an open outfield spot, and Sheffield was still just a 3B/SS with the Brewers.
- This is a good at baseball draft, not a fantasy draft. So it doesn't matter that Liss will have way more saves than Greg or I. Nor will it matter that he's way behind in wins.
I gave Greg first choice to select his spot, KDS-style, and he opted for first, Liss opted to go second. As you can see, those were the obvious choices.
