Goalkeepers are often an afterthought in fantasy Premier League, but they still manage to score enough points where we certainly can't ignore them. Burnley's Nick Pope was the highest scorer in the league official fantasy game last season, and his point total would have been the fourth-highest among defenders, eighth-highest among midfielders and fifth-highest among forwards.

Clean sheets and saves are the name of the game, something that keeps many goalkeepers fairly close to one another in terms of fantasy production. Elite teams usually don't require their goalkeepers to make many saves, while poorer defensive units allow plenty of save opportunities; it's just a matter of whether those chances can be saved or not.

Liverpool's Alisson Becker was certainly an option to finish as the highest scorer last season, but an injury kept him from playing enough to earn those points. However, now fully fit and with another standout defense in front of him, he projects very well for the 2020/21 campaign.

It's also worth appreciating that individual skill matters but not nearly enough to justify taking a goalkeeper from a worse team. For example, Dean Henderson or Sergio Romero would be more than sufficient players if David de Gea were to suffer an injury, so you can almost ignore the player names and just choose the team.

As mentioned in the forward, midfielder and defender rankings, these will change as projections change, and those are updated whenever there is a transfer, injury or change in playing time situation. The rankings will not change as frequently as the projections, but be sure that we will have multiple updates leading up to the start of the season.
