2025 Fantasy Outlook
Known for pretty much his entire career as more of an agitator and a physical presence than an offensive option, Wilson proved he could be both in 2024-25. The 31-year-old set career highs across the board – goals, assists, points, plus/minus rating, game-winning goals, power-play goals and ice time. He did all of this while being the same physical presence that stayed mostly on the right side of the proverbial line, recording 233 hits. For Wilson, 11 of his 33 goals came on the power play, and he scored on an astounding 19.5 percent of his shots on goal, tough numbers to sustain year-over-year. Even if regression comes for him during the 2025-26 season, the physical play will always be there. The power winger’s usage on the power play and in the top six will give him every opportunity to be a go-to option on the Capitals again. Read Past Outlooks

Wilson produced 18 goals and 35 points in 74 games during the 2023-24 campaign, marking a significant drop in his scoring rates from his previous five seasons. Still, he brought plenty of his trademark physicality to the table, racking up 133 PIM and 228 hits. The Capitals struggled to score goals last season, but several players, including Wilson, have bounce-back potential in 2024-25. The 30-year-old forward should top 20 goals and could flirt with the 50-point plateau while surpassing 150 shots and 200 hits, making him a solid target in banger leagues.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Long-term deal on tap?
According to general manager Brian MacLellan, the Capitals plan to sign Wilson to a long-term extension, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports.
ANALYSIS
According to Silber, the Capitals are preparing to retool on the fly this summer after missing the playoffs for the first time in nine years, but it appears as though Wilson won't be one of the players potentially heading elsewhere via a trade. Wilson, who is set to enter the final season of his six-year, $31 million contract with Washington in 2023-24, will be eligible to negotiate and sign an extension beginning July 1. The 29-year-old winger was limited to 33 games in 2022-23 due to injury, picking up 13 goals, 22 points and 97 hits over that span.
