PLAYER RECOMMENDATIONS
GOALKEEPER
Brad Guzan, USA v. MAR ($6,000): Martinique looked strong in the opening match, but that was against Nicaragua. Regardless, Martinique's attack looks dangerous, but let it prove it can beat Guzan and the Americans' defense. Sometimes, a match is too one-sided and the winning keeper hardly makes any saves, but in this one there should be few shots on goal for Guzan to add to his fantasy point total.
DEFENDER
Jorge Villafana, USA v. MAR ($5,800): Villafana was the more enterprising fullback between he and Graham Zusi. It is rare that you see a team push both of its fullbacks up the field at the same time, so Zusi stayed backed to defend while Villafana made penetrating runs up the field that caused a ton of problems for Panama in the opening match.
Josue Quijano, NIC v. PAN ($4,300): It is extremely rare to see four shots taken by a defender, let alone two on goal. He also had three crosses, and now Nicaragua faces a bit of a tougher test in Panama. The attack should find it difficult to penetrate the Panama defense, which will force the Nicaraguan fullbacks to press up the field to add numbers to the attack.
Antoine Jean-Baptiste, MAR v. USA ($3,700): Martinique faces a much more difficult test this time around against the United States. Jean-Baptiste may not exceed his value, but he has a good chance of reaching it due to his cheap price, and he allows for more money to be spent on attacking players.
MIDFIELDER
Kelyn Rowe, USA v. MAR ($8,300): Rowe has been amazing in his first two international caps. In the pre-tournament friendly against Ghana, Rowe was one of the stars of the show due to his exquisite touch and sharp decision making. Last game, he had multiple chances to score, and he made an incredible play to earn his first international assist. Rowe is in form right now, and he is really taking advantage of the opportunity at hand.
Kellyn Acosta, USA v. MAR ($7,100): Acosta takes all the set pieces for the United States. He is a defensive midfielder, which means he has much more defensive duties than a typical attacking player, but he still manages to make his way into the attack. His four shots last game are proof of his attacking involvement, and his free-kick goal in the Ghana match shows his versatility as a player.
Steeven Langil, MAR v. USA ($6,200): Langil subbed on with just 25 minutes left in the match against Nicaragua. Nicaragua was down 1-0 and pushed many players up the field in search of a goal, which played right into the hands of the winger. The Martinique defense recovered the ball following an offensive push by Nicaragua, and a defender quickly played the ball to Langil, who made a first touch to nutmeg his defender, and he was quickly on the break. He took care of the rest with type of quality that is found in the UEFA Champions League, which he featured in last season, and it compounded the peculiarity of his omission from the starting lineup. Perhaps, Martinique is looking to bring Langil off of the bench as a super-sub, but watch for the starting lineups Wednesday to see if this is the case.
FORWARD
Dominic Dwyer, USA v. MAR ($10,100): Dwyer is the main man for the Americans in this tournament. He has played just two international matches, and he has a goal in each of them. His price has soared quite a bit, but Martinique is a weaker team than Panama, which should result in more chances.
Gabriel Torres, PAN v. NIC ($6,600): Torres was the target man for Panama in the opening match against the United States. He had multiple opportunities to get on the score sheet, but ended up with two shots on goal. Things get much easier against Nicaragua, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see Torres find the back of the net.
Kevin Parsemain, MAR v. USA ($5,200): Parsemain looked like true no. 9 against Nicaragua. He had a stint with the Seattle Sounders, but he didn't quite get the opportunity to impress. As the center forward for Martinique, his confidence is soaring, and it seemed like everything he touched turned to gold in the first round.
