Best Super Bowl MVP Bets: Seahawks vs Patriots (2026)

Here are my five best Super Bowl MVP bets to place heading into Patriots vs Seahawks:

Sam Darnold to Win Super Bowl MVP: +135

Five of the last six Super Bowl MVP winners have been quarterbacks. A quarterback has also won the award in nine of the last 11 seasons. Chuck Howley in 1971 is the lone player to win Super Bowl MVP for the losing team.

What I'm getting at is that if the Seahawks win the Super Bowl, Sam Darnold will almost certainly be named Super Bowl MVP. This logic applies to Drake Maye as well, but Seattle is a 4.5-point favorite and seems to have a better chance to win. If you like Seattle, betting Darnold at +135 would net a better payout than the Seahawks' moneyline.

Drake Maye to Win Super Bowl MVP: +225

On paper, the Patriots' biggest advantage in this game is the chasm at QB between Sam Darnold and Drake Maye. If New England gets it done, their MVP quarterback will almost certainly be the reason why.

Maye's legs give him a huge advantage here, too. If he's running around making highlight-reel plays, that'll stick in the voters' minds. It's hard to see how New England wins this one without Maye finishing as the game's MVP. Betting him to win the award comes with a better payout than just taking the Patriots' moneyline.

Kenneth Walker to Win Super Bowl MVP: +650

The Patriots' run defense has been among the best in the league when Milton Williams has been on the field. They haven't allowed any RB to finish with more than 53 rushing yards in the 15 games that he's played. If Kenneth Walker overcomes that and has a big day on the ground, I wouldn't be surprised to see him hoisting the Pete Rozelle Trophy after the game.

But even if he doesn't do much as a rusher, his pass-catching ability gives him another avenue to win the award. Walker is red-hot as a receiver right now, averaging 36.8 receiving yards per game over his last five. If he breaks a couple of explosives in the passing game, he'll have a real shot. At better than 6-to-1 odds, he's a nice value.

Rashid Shaheed to Win Super Bowl MVP: +2500

I love picking players who have multiple avenues to making an impact on the game. Rashid Shaheed is arguably the most versatile player on either team, though he has some competition from my next pick.

Shaheed is Seattle's primary returner on kickoffs and punts. And he's one of the best in the league. He took a kickoff to the house in the Divisional Round and flipped a pivotal Week 16 game with a punt return TD. If he takes a return to the house, or even sets up a scoring drive, his odds will skyrocket.

But he also has a shot to get this done as a more traditional offensive weapon. He's not targeted a whole lot, but when he is, look out. Shaheed brought in a 51-yard reception last week, and he has carried the ball at least once in eight of his 11 games with Seattle. Now that RB Zach Charbonnet is out, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets an extra carry or two on Super Bowl Sunday.

Shaheed is the only player in the game who has a legitimate shot to make an impact as a receiver, a rusher, and a returner. That makes him an intriguing flyer at +2500.

Marcus Jones to Win Super Bowl MVP: +8000

This is the biggest long shot of the best bet section, but there's a lot working in Marcus Jones' favor. Like Shaheed, he can make an impact in a variety of ways.

Jones is New England's primary slot corner. He's a legitimate playmaker. Jones led the Patriots with 11 passes defenses, finished second on the team with three INTs in the regular season, and, if we include the playoffs, has taken two INTs to the house. One came as recently as the Divisional Round.

If he gets his hands on an INT, he absolutely has a chance to score. Game-swinging plays like that are typically how defenders win this award, and Jones is arguably the most explosive athlete of any defender on either team.

But he's also New England's primary punt returner. And he's one of the best to ever do it. In fact, his career average of 14.3 yards per punt return is currently the best mark in NFL history. He led the league with two punt return TDs this season and absolutely has a shot to do it again on Sunday.

Best Dark-Horse Super Bowl MVP Bet

Here's a look at my favorite dark-horse Super Bowl MVP bet. For this section, I only considered players who were outside the top-10 in the latest Super Bowl MVP odds.

Milton Williams to Win Super Bowl MVP: +25000

Look, this is as big of a long shot as it gets. A $100 bet on Milton Williams to win Super Bowl MVP would pay out at $25,000. So, yeah. It's probably not going to happen. But, I do think it's significantly more possible than those odds suggest.

Milton Williams is the most important player on the Patriots' defense. While DTs typically don't win this award, I think Williams is uniquely positioned to buck that trend.

The weakest part of Seattle's offensive line is the interior. All three starters received below-average pass-blocking grades from PFF, and RG Anthony Bradford finished 74th out of 77 qualified guards. That pits the Patriots' best pass-rusher against the worst part of the Seahawks' offense – a tried-and-true Super Bowl MVP recipe.

It's hard for any defender to win this award, especially a DT. But Williams has been on fire recently. He leads all defenders with 13 hurries this postseason. If he takes advantage of the plus matchup and converts more of those pressures into sacks, I think he'll have a real shot here.

Don't forget, Williams easily could've won this award last year. He finished Super Bowl LIX with four pressures, two sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. If we get a repeat performance, he could absolutely cash a +25000 bet. You're not going to find many better values than that.

Super Bowl MVP Predictions

Below, we surveyed four members of the RotoWire staff and asked them to provide a Super Bowl MVP prediction. These account for the odds as well, so it's not who each staff member thinks is most likely to win; it's the player that they feel represents the best value. Here were the results:

  • Brandon Justice: Kenneth Walker +650
  • Blake Weishaar: Sam Darnold +135
  • Tyler Huntington: Drake Maye +225
  • Max Staley: Drake Maye +225

Drake Maye to Win Super Bowl MVP was the only selection that appeared twice. The other two RotoWire staff members were split between a pair of Seahawks, with Sam Darnold and Kenneth Walker each getting one vote.
