2026 Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
The Marlins always seem to have plenty of pitching, and as of late December, they may have enough pitching for Snelling to open the year at Triple-A, but he has nothing left to prove in the minors and has several paths to winning a rotation spot in camp. The 6-foot-3 lefty has had an eventful run as a prospect, once ranking as a top 100 prospect for the Padres before his value slipped and they sold low in the Tanner Scott deadline deal in 2024. Snelling, with the Marlins help, has tinkered with his delivery and setup since the trade, culminating in his best run as a pro, logging a 1.27 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, 26.0 K-BB% and 47.9 percent groundball rate in 11 starts at Triple-A. Snelling touches 99 mph with his fastball while sitting in the 94-95 mph range. His curveball, slider and changeup are all at least above-average, and Snelling has had a walk rate below 10 percent at every stop aside from his pre-trade Texas League days. He also threw a career-high 136 innings in his age-21 season and has thrown over 100 innings three straight years. Betting on lefties with good stuff and reliable command can be a sharp move in fantasy, and drafting/acquiring Snelling before it becomes clear he's winning a rotation spot is advised. Nothing left to prove at Triple-A
Snelling allowed one run on seven hits over seven innings for Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday, striking out a career-high 13 without walking a batter.
Analysis
The lack of a spot on the 40-man roster seems to be the only thing keeping Snelling from making his major-league debut in 2025. The 21-year-old southpaw has delivered seven straight quality starts at Triple-A, fanning double-digit batters three times during that stretch while producing a 1.24 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 62:9 K:BB through 43.2 innings. The Marlins have so far declined to promote Snelling despite having six starting pitchers on the IL at the moment, but despite the team's apparent desire to delay starting his service-time clock, he clearly has nothing left to learn in the International League.

2024
The Marlins acquired Snelling as part of the deadline deal that sent Tanner Scott and Bryan Hoeing to the Padres. The 20-year-old lefty had a mediocre 10.3 K-BB% prior to the trade and had a 19.7 K-BB% with the Marlins' Double-A affiliate and then fanned seven over six innings of one-run ball in his lone Triple-A start. He has three average to above-average offerings but needs to hit his spots, particularly with his low-90s fastball. Snelling was the youngest qualified starter at Double-A and has now logged 100-plus innings in back-to-back minor-league campaigns -- an impressive feat for a pitching prospect heading into his age-21 season. Snelling is still young enough to improve his pitches and his craft, and the early returns suggest the change of scenery helped get him back on track. He'll be one of the youngest players at Triple-A in 2025 and could spend a couple months in the big-league rotation to close the year.
