Dream11 Fantasy KBO: Giants at Heroes

This article is part of our Dream11 Fantasy KBO series.

Lotte Giants (19-17) at Kiwoom Heroes (20-17)

Wednesday, June 17th, 5:30 AM EDT

Projected starters

RHP Jun Won Seo (3-1, 3.72 ERA) vs RHP Won Tae Choi (2-3, 4.38 ERA)

Game Preview

The Giants' victory in the series opener Tuesday gave them eight wins in their last 10 contests, the best record in the league over that stretch. Unfortunately, they got off to a slow start in May and, as a result, they're just two games above .500 entering play Wednesday and sit sixth in the standings, one spot out of the playoffs. The Heroes are three games above the .500 mark, but they are coming off back-to-back losses and have gone 3-5 in their last eight games. The pitching matchup here faces two hurlers who have struggled with their consistency, as Jun Won Seo will get the ball for the Twins and Won Tae Choi will do so for the Heroes. Seo was better his last time out, throwing five scoreless innings against the Eagles. Choi, on the other hand, gave up six runs and three home runs in just five innings of work during his previous outing against the Lions.

Injuries

Woong Bin Kim, Heroes - 10-Day IL - Hamstring

June 8 - Kim will miss 4-to-6 weeks with a left hamstring injury, Soo Jin Park of Star News reports. Kim missed the start of the season while recovering from a forearm injury, and he is now looking at another absence after injuring his leg Sunday.

Byung Wook Lim,, Heroes - 10-Day IL – Hamstring

May 17 - Lim (hamstring) is expected to be sidelined 6-to-8 weeks, Jeeho Yoo of Yonhap News reports. The 24-year-old went down during the second game of Saturday's doubleheader with a right hamstring injury, and he may end up spending two months on the injured list. Lim had a .278/.366/.389 slash line with four doubles and three stolen bases through 11 games.

Dong Won Park, Heroes - Day-To-Day - Knee

June 16  - Park left Tuesday's game against Lotte with soreness in his left knee, Soo Jin Park of Star News reports. Park homered in his first at-bat Tuesday, but his injury will prevent him from finishing the contest. He will undergo tests Wednesday to determine the extent of his injury.

Chi Hong An, Giants - 10-Day IL - Hamstring

June 15 - An was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday with a left hamstring injury, Kyung Yoon Kim of the Yonhap News Agency reports. An's injury limited him to pinch-hit duty in the Giants' last two games, but he apparently was not showing much improvement, so the Giants decided to remove him from the roster for now. The report notes An could be ready to return in less than 10 days, and per KBO rules he can be activated as soon as he is healthy.

Hoon Jung, Giants - 10-Day IL - Abdomen

june 16 - Jung (abdomen) started at third base in a game Tuesday with the Giants' Futures League affiliate, The Chosun Ilbo reports. Jung played five innings before being replaced in what was a pre-planned arrangement. Lotte manager Mun-hoe Her said after the Futures League game that Jung is feeling good as he works to overcome a ruptured inner abdominal muscle, but the skipper was unwilling to speculate when the 32-year-old might be ready to rejoin the big club. Before getting injured, Jung was batting .367 over eight games with Lotte.

Yoon Suk Oh, Giants - 10-Day IL - Hamstring

June 15 - Oh will be placed on the injured list with a right hamstring injury, Ik Rae Choi of The Dong-A Ilbo reports. It's not yet clear how long Oh will be sidelined, but he will not be able to play again until he is activated by the Giants. Oh has provided a nice boost for the Giants since making his season debut June 3, posting an .847 OPS over 11 games, but the team will now be forced to turn to another option on the infield.

Top picks

Ah Seop Son, Giants: Son saw his hitting streak come to an end following a 0-for-4 day Tuesday, but he's still be quite good over the past two weeks. The veteran outfielder has hit .377 with a .933 OPS in 53 at-bats during June.

Dixon Machado, Giants: Machado recorded three hits during Tuesday's win and appears to be re-emerging as one of the Giants' most dangerous bats following an extended cold stretch. He recorded hits in seven of his last eight games, grabbing four multi-hit appearances and two stolen bases during that stretch.

Jun Won Seo, Giants: Seo picked up his third win of the season during his most recent outing after tossing five scoreless innings. He has allowed just one run or fewer in three of his last four starts, so he enters this matchup on a good run of form.

Ha Seong Kim, Heroes: The star shortstop has gone hitless in two straight contests, but he still represents a solid choice for captaincy for players planning a Heroes-based lineup. He's hit safely in all but two games this month and owns a .327 average with three home runs and seven RBI in the month of June.

Captaincy Options

1. Ah Seop Son

2. Dixon Machado
